Ok thanks for checking those cranks!! I’ll order a new balancer since this one looks like it seen better days. Thanks again everybody
I’m not doing anything to crazy with this engine. Just re ring it, Probably an upgraded cam and possibly change the pistons since they look deep inside. It did...
Ok I think I found my dilemma. The crank snout measures 1.528 and googling bore diameter of a stock 440 i.d balancer the bore diameter should be 1.530 so I think the crank snout is worn .002 to where it’s loose and just slides right off to where I’m gonna order a new balancer and hope it’s tight...
Might be wear and I wiped it down and it measures 1.528 on the crank area where the balancer presses on. The key way on the balancer looks good. I don’t have a snap gauge to read the inner diameter of the balancer tho.
I recently picked up a 1975 440 w/trans that the owner claimed low miles that was out of a motorhome winnebago. Checked it all out and disassembled it to make sure it was legit. Did notice heat tabs on the freeze plugs. Engine was clean inside and was rebuild at one time, .030 pistons...
Alrighty I’m just gonna keep it how it is then without the fender tag but built it the way I want it and enjoy it like you said! It’s aways away from getting back on the road but will get there
Ok I was curious about that and there’s no documentation that came with my car which blows but most likely I’m gonna either slap in a 440 or 360 stroker since the 225 that’s in it now looks shot beyond repair. Would like put a fender tag like fasjac posted on post 21!
So I just got a 70 challenger that doesn’t have the fender tag but I decoded the vin and it’s a base model 225 slant 6 but the second digit H got me wondering what options came in this car to where even if I found out what options were created for this car and supposedly had the fender tag...
The fender tag is not there unfortunately and the hood I wish the PO didn’t do that. Idk if it came with vinyl top but I probably won’t put one back on if it did. I’ll try to be on a budget with this car but most likely it’ll go way over. Do have an engine that I might put in, a 6.4l hemi that I...
Hi everyone just acquired a 1970 Challenger with slant 6 which I’m so stoked and surprised I got this car for what I paid for it but it’s a long ways from getting on the road. Previous owner stated it was in the process of being restored and something happened to the dash that it caught on fire...
