    Great news! So I used an LED bulb, the hole is grounded like y’all said and ran wire under carpet to accessory fuse. It’s blinding bright lol. Thanks all.

    Same here, maybe from prior owner trying to access the bulb by bowing it in lieu of taking off top plates. I’m having the same issue, shifter lamp not working. Thanks

    Thanks what I did do is temporary plug the lamp wire unattached to the acc fuse tab and no light. Tried 2 bulbs. Stumped…

    Hi all, found out my shifter lamp in socket only has one wire and is just hanging. Does the shifter lamp get grounded once installed in the receiving pocket under gear plate? Thank you

    Hi Moparleo, been awhile, so quick question. AT 73 challenger, does the shifter lamp need to grounded? My vehicle has a single wire and section of wire unconnected to anything. Does the lamp get grounded once installed in the small hole?

    Well, I’m far from an electrical guru, I read a post where someone said to work the dimmer switch back n forth really fast and it worked! After not working for 5 years, it’s all a mystery with these old muscle lol
