Rick Ehrenberg says all street cars should use vacuum advance. He says bad things can happen to the engine down the road. I don't know, I am just hobbyist. I see guys running without vacuum advance on their street cars at car shows all the time.
I just watched the video by Uncle Tony. He says...
That’s very interesting CP. I never heard of a counter rotating distributor but hey you learn something new every day.
Both Rick Ehrenberg and Uncle Tony (from You Tube) say to use ported vacuum along with my old shop teacher. You’re right though as I have read on various forums people will...
The way I learned it was that vacuum advance gets hooked up to ported vacuum. That’s the way I did it on all my engines. I know some people say you can use manifold vacuum. I tried that once and the engine ran worse. Just my experience.
I did go to the Doylestown show yesterday and I had a great time. I got there at 10:15am and stayed until noon. I walked the show cars twice. Unfortunately I did not see the ‘74 Challenger in question. I was surprised to see some really high dollar cars there.
I have a hood that I know for fact is from a '73 and it has the 3 holes for the emblem. I will measure the distance to the holes if you want but I don't have an emblem to put in there and measure it with the emblem in place.
Thank you very much Phil. That explains it. I do have the fender tag but as I mentioned I can't read the whole tag. Still working on that. Strange though, the original owner said he thought he was getting the stripe so how could he have deleted it? Something strange went on here.
This is a great story. I too hope it has a happy ending.
I am going to an All Mopar Show this coming Sunday (not today) in Doylestown, PA. Doylestown isn’t that far from Philly or Allentown. You never know right? So I will keep an eye for it.
No offense and maybe it is my Mopar bias talking...
I have been lucky enough to find the original owner of my A66 Challenger. I found out it was a special order car. I asked him why he didn’t order a power top and Rallye/Magnum wheels? Also why is there no evidence of a Bumblebee stripe? He said on all three accounts he thought he was getting...
Welcome aboard Earl!
Possible vacuum leak? Is the first thing that comes to mind. I know I had a car that did that back in the day but I can’t remember what the cause was. Is the vacuum advance hooked to ported vacuum? Keep us posted.
I have the Passon 4 speed OD and I love it. I bought it about 10 years ago. The 5 speed wasn't available then. Back then it cost me about $2500 because Jamie gave a $500 credit on the parts from my original 4 speed which were in excellent condition. Once I put it in OD I go from a 3.91 to 3.13...
That’s it! I knew I had seen her somewhere. She looked familiar but more specifically I knew I heard that accent somewhere. Even “The Verdict” is an old movie these days.
Really cool scene. I agree they should have left it in the movie. Never knew about before.
