1971 Challenger N code (383 Magnum) convertible black grille and black tail panel?

The 71 N-code Challenger convert should have an argent grille and argent taillight bezels. The tail panel should be body color. Grabbed this pic from the web (ignore the “Hemi R/T” emblem)

1971 Challenger N code (383 Magnum) convertible black grille and black tail panel?

I have a May SPD JH23H1B that came with an argent grille and tail panel. I believe the addition of the rubber bumper option on a Challenger in 71 resulted in a black grille and tail panel regardless of the performance level/engine. Also, the black 71 grille was molded black. If you have a...

Opinion on tear in Caliper dust boot

I think the seal creates vacuum, which pulls the piston back into the caliper after you release the brakes. I’d replace it.

    That’s a 72-later E-body am/fm. I sold one a few years back for $250. https://forum.e-bodies.org/parts-misc-for-sale/9/1972-74-e-body-amfm-radio/26360/msg300125#msg300125

    Date code for alternator

Rear axle markings are all over the place. My google-foo is pretty basic, but if you enter a search for whatever topic, for example: “Mopar rear end markings” and then add “Moparts.org” or “Forebodiesonly.org” or “e-bodies.org” your top hits will be previous topics on that particular subject...

    Date code for alternator

Assembly date code is on the pad shown in your third pic. That one looks to have been rebuilt/remanufactured and most of the date stamps were probably lost during media blasting of the case.

    First light in 38 years

HOW COOL! Great to keep it in the family. Are you planning on keeping the 440-6 in it or back to a 383? Auto or manual? Enjoy!

    Black Paint for interior

I used SEM “Trim Black” on my dash frame, glove box door and ash tray door. I used the following technique to get the slight texture on the dash frame and doors. Strip to bare metal, prime with SEM self-etching black primer; follow with a super light dusting/fogging using Rustoleum textured...

    Black Paint for interior

Most people with experience will recommend SEM products. Excellent quality. They offer multiple products specifically for interior color applications (prep, primer, paint) in both aerosol and liquid. “Landau Black” is the one you want. Color Coat™ Aerosols | 15013 | SEM Products

    T/A AAR windshield washer nozzles

I hadn’t noticed that the repros were slightly different from original. Original RH nozzles has the two ribs and the LH/driver’s side nozzle was smooth. It appears the repros are just smooth. Here’s a pic of an original set. You can see the two small holes on each where the fluid comes out...

    Wiper and Dimmer knobs

I’m guessing apply the paint with a fine brush down in the recessed area then wipe any excess paint on the flat surface carefully with a damp cloth or a-tip using thinner.

    T/A AAR windshield washer nozzles

I’m not seeing a missing part? That’s how they look IMO. Jim Filmore at DMT has excellent repros if you want to check them for comparison: Mopar E Body AAR TA Windshield Washer Squirter Nozzle Set
