1971 Dodge Challenger Grill Inserts Paint Color

Excellent! Yea a couple weeks ago i got mixed up thinking i needed textured so i picked up a can from classicindustries, only to hear that it was non-textured, and since both my grill inserts dont match with one being textured and the other not, i just had to be certain and ask on here

1971 Dodge Challenger Grill Inserts Paint Color

yea that was one i had previously looked at, but it seemed a tad conflicting. Was the one guy correct in saying that 71 r/t's did not use the textured argent silver? also it looks like the 8 mounting bracket tabs on both are left black. Hm good thing i noticed that this time around.

1971 Dodge Challenger Grill Inserts Paint Color

Hi all, So in my quest to reproduce these rare grill inserts, Ive come across an issue. What type of argent silver paint is used to paint these inserts? i got a driver side and a passenger side from different people on here and one looks like it has textured argent silver, and the other looks...

1971 Dodge challenger grill insert chrome trim

Aha yes that does actually! So it looks like its somewhat flush but still *some* gaps, specially where the clips are located. Ok perfect, so my design should hold up well enough then. Thanks a whole bunch!

1971 Dodge challenger grill insert chrome trim

I realized that I didnt specify but the grill insert in those pics are the original insert, not the one i printed. Simply focusing on the chrome trim. Any help determining if the chrome trim should be flush/fit perfectly, or if from the factory it was never truly a perfect fit would help out...

1971 Dodge challenger grill insert chrome trim

I generated both a step and stl file for both of them yea. Well the grill insert was originally made with injection molded abs if i remember correctly and I would be doing this in asa which is more optimized for 3d printing. The end result of the chrome trim though, i will be getting it made...

1971 Dodge challenger grill insert chrome trim

Hi all, Im working on a little project to build grill inserts, I have already scanned and successfully 3d printed out the driver side grill insert and Im presently tweaking the chrome trim. However, the grill insert i have, the chrome trim "fits" but its not that flush. So i was wondering, how...

FOUND 1971 dodge challenger grill inserts

Figured I would add some updates on here. I got yours so far and I ended up having to paint it with some acrylic paint for longer term 3D scanning test(the acrylic paint can easily be cleaned off by washing with water), and i was able to create a fairly decent 3d model of it. The easy part was...

FOUND 1971 dodge challenger grill inserts

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has a pair of grill inserts for a 1971 dodge Challenger. Worst case scenario, I dont particularly mind if they're in very beat up condition as long as they're whole and not broken into pieces. I also dont mind if there are cracks or some of the mounting screw...

71 Challenger automatic center console compartment dimensions

ahh I see, you could go about doing something that attaches to the lid to shine down toward the compartment when fully open, and maybe a momentary switch that is NC when you open the compartment lid, that would be cool

71 Challenger automatic center console compartment dimensions

what do you mean? something to illuminate the compartment? at the moment i dont but i could add in a little led strip, but i dont think itll be necessary for me as the dome light will be right overhead if i need it

71 Challenger automatic center console compartment dimensions

alright! I made the adjustments and created an insertable mini relay harness that will slot into a cubby on the front right side. Initial print testing found it was difficult to remove supports and insert the spade connectors into it when so many things obscure it. But now thats done, i have...

71 Challenger automatic center console compartment dimensions

oh yea, and heres how the cable management channel looks like too. Its easy to slide into it but not too easy to where it could slide out. Ignore the messy corner of the print, this is the first print so perfection isnt mandatory

71 Challenger automatic center console compartment dimensions

made additional adjustments on the model so far. changed from the hook method as that wouldnt work out long term due to 3d printed orientation. they would probably snap almost immediately, so i made an insert to slide into the model that way i could print the cable management section separately...

71 Challenger automatic center console compartment dimensions

Progress so far, just need the lock mechanism measurements and i should be good to do a test print for final fitment tests of the components going into it, then i can ship it up to the farm and get see if it needs any additional adjustments or if its perfect. Getting anxious to see it realized...
