My grandson would like me to convert a 72 Challenger I'm putting together to a 4 speed car. I have everything to do it and the engine and transmission are out.
I'm really now considering leaving it an automatic as it makes it easier for me to drive at this age. I have my 71 Challenger 4 speed to...
Nope. My 340 car came with 14" rallye wheels and not very many options. No power steering. 11" drum brakes all the way around. The AM-cassette cost more than anything else on options except the 340 engine.

So here's the best photo taken in 1972 I can find of my car showing the gloss of the paint. You can clearly see the amount of reflection in it. It just didn't have the deepness the new multi-stage/clear coats paints have. Of course, the cameras and film were not great back then either. The...
Back in the 60s when I was in high school, the old cars then, from the 1930 through the 1950s, for the most part, had a dull paint by that time. I owned a 36 Chevy that looked better in primer than the original paint. My parents had cars from the 1950s, fords and Chevies and a Chrysler. The...
All are 1/4". I suggest blowing out all four tank vent line tubes so they are clear. I ran a piece of wire in each one. There appears to be some kind of cap on the end of each one inside the tank so I sprayed some brake parts cleaner in each one to be sure they are clear when I saw the liquid...
In my stock configured 72 Challenger, the four tank vent lines go into the tank liquid/vapor separator. The 1/4" line out of it goes to the 1/4" vent line going to the engine compartment.
See photo of the removed separator sitting on the removed gas tank.

Yes, it will work in other years non-A/C e-bodies. Here's what he's talking about non broken front cover. This is from my 71 Challenger when I pulled it out this past July to rebuild it. Note the front opening for the floor (passenger foot) heat on the right side has a lip that is a straight...
I just restored one where the front cover was broken like the OPs photos. I bought a new repro front housing cover to repair it. It fit better than the original. I can't tell you someone else would pay for it but if I were needing one, probably $100 to $150 would be my offer especially if the...
We all start somewhere. The first car I owned was a 36 Chevrolet Standard with inline 6. I worked on it and drove it. The next car I worked on was a 64 Biscayne. Then the next car I owned was a 66 Impala before I finally got my 71 Challenger. Then I owned a 72 Vega for the gas mileage. Then a...
I have driven both of my cars shown in Post #2 above across the country from coast to coast. The 71 convertible was comfortable for the time in 1973/4. It got a best fuel mileage of 21 mpg at 70 mph I was about 21 years old at the time. I have driven my 2015 across country in 2017. It's...
Ok. I won't break anything tomorrow. I truly thought i had broke my femur or pelvis when I fell today. I need to pay closer attention to where I'm walking.
@booyaballer. I'm in Washington state. If you lived close to me, I'd tell ya to come over and get them. Shipping is a killer now. I'd go out and measure the long one for you but I fell and injured my right hip today and am struggling to walk. ER took an x-ray and said I didn't break anything...
Here's a few pieces I have that follow the body lines of the Challenger. They had female plastic pieces slid into the molding channel on the back which were then attached to the male metal pins on the fenders, door and rear quarter panels. The pins looked like the pins used to hold the clips for...
Very hard to find, especially the original Mopar ones. @Cudahunter may be the best source for info on them. I think he may know something about them, but maybe not?

No bows - eliminates that issue. Make sure to measure for the sunvisor holes also. Did the gran Coupe have a hardboard headliner like the Challenger SE? I have only owned one SE and the headliner was pulling off the hardboard and the hardboard had a sag to it.

In my experience, the headliner would go in next. I assume you marked the headliner bows in their proper order. I also mark the holes they each go in and take measurements of location so I can find them. Also make dome light location with measurements. Also measure locations for your seat belt...
I was looking at O'Reilly's Auto Parts website and there are some very inexpensive vinyl and rubber floor mats /sets available that would work. Set 78830 ($29.99) are fronts only with a size of about 28" long by 19" wide which would fit. Also set 79920 ($27.99) are front and rear mats and look...
