    2026 Mopar Nats

Old Mopar: Man, I wish I could attended at least one of those shows at the proving grounds. That must have been so awesome! I agree #13 at Indy sucked. That's why I stopped going until it came back to National trail. The Indy cops were like the Nazi gustatos. They harassed people just for...

    2026 Mopar Nats

I am also on the east coast (NJ). It's 7.5 hours for me to go to the Mopar nationals but I have been there in 1990, 1992, 1993 (Indy) and then 1999 to present excluding 2020 (because it was cancelled). I first got the idea to go to the show in the late '80s when I read about it in the car...

WTB 1970 Barracuda Trunk Lock Linkage Cover

I could also use one of those. I've been looking for one for a while. If it's not too much trouble if you find one please let me know where you got it from.

    Speedometer Gear Accuracy problems-I'm stumped

You're exactly correct. Due to the age of these cars we should expect some strange problems to arise. The Gauge Doc got back to me and my speedometer is repaired and it is on it's way home. Jamie Passon also got back to me and he told me for the Hemi OD transmission the output shaft does...

    1971 Dodge Challenger convertible

My sincerest condolences on your loss. I didn't know Terry but I read the obituary. Terry seemed like a wonderful guy. I wish I could have met him. I was going to suggest that maybe one of his freinds would be interested in the car but that was already suggested. Good luck with the sale.

    Speedometer Gear Accuracy problems-I'm stumped

Thank you Xcudame. I agree about the speedometers. I have never had this problem before but some of the parts on this car are 56 years old. I figure that sometimes things like this are going to happen but it is amazing to me how reliable this car actually is. It's a testament to the quality...

    Speedometer Gear Accuracy problems-I'm stumped

The guy from "The gauge Doc" got back to me. He put the speedometer on his calibration machine and it is off by the same amount as when I was using it in my car. He told me it is a good thing we got to this early because he said when it was on the calibration machine he could hear it making...

    Speedometer Gear Accuracy problems-I'm stumped

Thank you very much for the suggestion and although I feel that will probably get it pretty close I feel I am just compensating for the problem. I really feel like it has to be the speedometer because gear ratios, the number of teeth of the gear and tire height are what they are. The speedometer...

    Speedometer Gear Accuracy problems-I'm stumped

I sent an email over to Passon Performance asking about the teeth on the output shaft of the OD transmission. Jamie's OD transmission with the OD gears he designed only comes in 18 spline. I heard him say this to a prospective buyer at Carlisle. The one I have is 18 spline. There was a factory...

    Speedometer Gear Accuracy problems-I'm stumped

Well, I am back to being stumped. I changed the speedometer and no change. It's still off about 2-3 mph in the 20s and 30s then goes to about 4-5 mph off in the 40s. I couldn't go much faster in my neighborhood. I started thinking maybe I got different tires than I thought I had because I did...

    Speedometer Gear Accuracy problems-I'm stumped

Thanks everyone for all the replys. Steve340: you're that the RPMs will be different with overdrive but the number of teeth on the output shaft will not change. After thinking about it and if all '66 and up transmissions have 13 teeth than I highly doubt Jamie Passon would build a transmission...

    Speedometer Gear Accuracy problems-I'm stumped

Some years back (could be as much as 12 years ago) I installed 3.91 gears in my car. Many times in the past I have used the charts in places like Brewer's (just for example) to determine the number of teeth of the speedometer gear and I was always able to get the speedometer accurate to within 1...

1970 Barracuda/'Cuda Valence Rear panel bolt kit question

It really was a great show. I had an incredible time. I do think last year was a little better because of the 100th anniversary and all that went with it but the folks at Carlisle really know how to put one of these shows on. I already registered for next year.

1970 Barracuda/'Cuda Valence Rear panel bolt kit question

Sorry, I live a crazy life. I spent most of the time getting ready for Carlisle and then getting caught up on the work which was piling up here at home while I was gone. I will text you later on today.

1970 Barracuda/'Cuda Valence Rear panel bolt kit question

Sorry it took me so long to respond. I looked under my car and I can't find these pieces although I am not sure if I was looking in the right place. I will look at some cars at Carlisle to see if I can find exactly where they should be.

Those do not look familiar. I don't think I have them on my car. Where exactly do they connect to?

1970 Barracuda/'Cuda Valence Rear panel bolt kit question

No need to apologize. I love talking about this kind of thing. I didn't realize that bean counters had such an influence in the '50s. After thinking it over I guess you are right and mainly it was cost cutting moves on the E bodies. I did recently watch a YouTube video (take it with a grain...

1970 Barracuda/'Cuda Valence Rear panel bolt kit question

Yes, I partially agree. I think some of it was cost cutting moves but some of it was they just found better/more efficient ways of doing something. I could be wrong though! I was once told that the '71 model year has more in common with the '72-'74 model year than the '70. It does seem to be true.
