That Paradise fire was wild. From the time it started until the time they started pushing cars over the cliff edge with bulldozers to clear the road was a very short time. Town was half gone by the time they even would have been looking at hydrants. I've worked several of the Northern...
Awesome T/A was there, and a 65 Barracuda that gives me inspiration to finish mine.
Carrman from here on the forum was there today too, with a great Newport, but we didn't manage to run into each other.
That's what I started thinking, no way it would be that uniform and only on the taper, with the bearing contact areas not affected.
Put 60 gentle miles on today and it did great.
Ready for the last show I'll do for the year. Wash and dry in the morning then a half hour drive to the show. Finished the temp fix on the wheel bearing problem and went for a test dirve today and all seems well.
If I didn't love the TA hood so much, I'd keep this flat hood on it. No one would...
I've got it cleaned up enough I csn throw bearings in it and make the show. I'll order the Dr Diff ones and probably upgrade the brakes to 11" while I'm at it afterwards.
I'm not convinced that blue is heat damage. Too uniform, only on tapered portion, scratches off easily, and the other side...
Yep pretty sure I'll order those up. In the meantime, I'm considering throwing new bearings on this one just so I can make the show this weekend. Maybe not. I'll see how it looks tomorrow if I can get the outter bearing on or not.
Wheel bearing ate passenger side spindle this morning, took both sides apart and figure I better replace both for safety. Was hoping to just throw OEM stuff back on for a big show this weekend but not finding any options at any of the big auto parts stores. Summit has a Right Stuff pair of...
I dropped mine off at the muffler guy and said I wanted 2.5" pipes and electric cutouts. He did the rest. The cutouts sit a little (lot) lower than I was hoping for, but they're fun and the exhaust looks good when I'm under it.
If you live/drive on a dirt road, be aware that the exhaust...
Wound up parking next to this excellent 340 'Cuda, and next car down the line was a 73 Duster Twister with a 383 in it. Couple other 72-73 Challengers also, and a 68 'Cuda convertible that wasn't in the show but was in the parking lot. Of course, I got dumped on on the way home. 😂 Engine...
I keep hoping I run into one of the new ones in the same color so I can take pictures with it. And one in whatever they call the new version of Hemi Orange. I see one in town fairly often and it's usually parked out in a parking lot corner by itself so one of these days I'll get it!
Went out for a 50 mile test drive to the gym yesterday before driving to the show in the morning. All went well. Finally have this thing ready to do a lot of miles before we get snow again! Uploading the photo distorts the color a bit. It's more obnoxious than it shows. 😂
Mine is a tiny bit lower on passenger and a tiny bit lower in the rear. You wouldn't notice if you didn't stand and stare at it for 5 minutes making sure you didn't leave tools on the intake or valley pan or valve covers before starting it for the first time though.
I just ordered a T/A hood and will need the lightweight springs for it. I'd trade my new flat hood springs if you wanted to, but my hood won't be here and ready to put on for a couple months so you may not want to wait.
Hoods on and almost perfectly aligned, good enough until the T/A one gets here. Heats up a little faster at idle in park, will start tinkering with airflow next but I'm working out of town the next couple weeks so not much time. Driving with hood on was a steady 185 though so I should be able to...
