    Help with low oil pressure

Been running the drill for awhile and have about 55-58 psi cold but nothing coming out at the rockers . Do I need to turn the engine over by hand in order to line up the oil holes in the cam? Is that my problem?

    Help with low oil pressure

Ok everyone, I reinstalled the m63 standard oil pump with the pink spring. New filter and 5qts Lucas 10w40(hot rod) oil and spun the pump with a dril rated at 900 rpm’s. I maxed out the drill and the gauge( separate , different gauge than the one I had been using in the car before) read 58...

    Help with low oil pressure

Has anyone ever had an issue with the two ports on the rear of the block(383)not having the same pressure? In other words, could one port be allowing more or less pressure than the other port? I was wondering if I had low pressure reading on a gauge attached to one port, if it might show a...

    Help with low oil pressure

Yeah the jury is still out on the hv pump and Im hoping that the thicker 10w40 oil will get me where I need to be. I think I would be happy with 15 psi at hot idle/ in drive and a stop light.

    Help with low oil pressure

Yeah but back when I ordered stuff from 440 source several things didn’t fit. Like I ordered a pan and new pick up for a 383 and when I received it neither one would fit correctly, so I just went back with the stock used pan and pick up. I was not impressed with 440 source.🤷‍♂️

    Help with low oil pressure

Hey all I have another observation I would like everyone’s input on. I just did a little experiment. I had another 402 stock pan in my parts stash and I thought I would see if you could put more oil in the pan than the factory spec of 4 QTs. I wondered if I could put more oil in the pan, then...

    Help with low oil pressure

Thanks, I have been a little apprehensive about changing to the hv pump for that reason. I initially bought a larger pan from 440 source but it didn’t work. It was taller along the shallow part of the pan (also the thickness of the 2 gaskets and windage tray may have pushed the pan even farther...

    Help with low oil pressure

I used Brad Penn 10w30 since the break in oil was changed. I had the Brad penn in it until now and it probably only had another 500 miles. So the engine has less that 1000 miles on it. I’m changing it (with valvoline racing 10w-40) because I think the 30 wt oil was getting too thin when at...

    Help with low oil pressure

20w50 is pretty thick for cooler weather and cold starts. Wouldn’t a lower number such as 5w50 or 10w50 be thinner at start up to get the oil to where it needs to be quicker?

    Help with low oil pressure

I don”t remember, since it was last spring/summer when I last drove it. I believe it was around 700-800rpm and the pressure did increase with acceleration/increased rpm’s but I often wasn’t paying too much attention to the upper pressure , but instead the extremely low end pressure😬.
