    Fender alignment

That was it. My latch was too high and the bumpers were too low. It’s not perfect, but it is way better. It’s about an 1/8” high now on both sides rather than 3/8”. Now I have a starting point to adjust at. Thanks for the help guys.

    Fender alignment

Yeah I can push each side down and the other side rises. When I let off pressure, they return to 3/16” gap on both sides.

    Fender alignment

I put some playdoh on the radiator cap and it didn’t make contact. Rules that out. I think I’m going to take out the hood bumpers, drop the hood latch, unbolt and lower the radiator, and pull the hood alignment bumpers. If it still does it then, what do you guys think about either a bent hood or...

    Fender alignment

I recorded some videos and didn’t see it hitting anywhere(hinges, inner fender, air cleaner, radiator) It is tight on the rubber bumpers that guide the hood though.

    Fender alignment

I have aligned my doors to the quarters and my fenders to the doors. The hood has been adjusted to the fenders. The issue I have is that when I close the hood, the front of the hood sits up about 3/8” on both sides. The back of the hood sits where it should. I suspect that the hood might...

3/8” carb to pump fuel line and fittings

Yeah it should just be the carb to fuel line fitting. The carb should come with a plug for the driver's side fuel inlet.

3/8” carb to pump fuel line and fittings

I was previously running an Edelbrock high pressure pump that was pushing over 12 psi. If you have a fuel pump that is below 7 psi, you’ll be fine. Edelbrocks don’t like more than 6 to 6.5 psi. I also have a vapor separator filter between the pump and carb that also returns fuel to the tank...

3/8” carb to pump fuel line and fittings

I like the AVS 800. It is easy to tune. I do think I’m running a little rich. I’m waiting for the welding shops to open so I can hook a wideband o2 sensor up and really dial in the carb. I do have a couple of things to note: 1) make sure your fuel pump isn’t pushing over 7 psi. I’m running a...

3/8” carb to pump fuel line and fittings

Thanks for the help. I think I’m going to do a stock 5/16 fuel line with a fitting I found that might work connecting it to the carb. It’s a 5/8”-20 x 1/2-20.

3/8” carb to pump fuel line and fittings

Hey guys I have some more questions for you. I have a 440 with an Edelbrock AVS 800 cfm. I’m running 3/8 fuel line from the tank to the pump. Right now I have rubber 3/8 line from the pump to an aftermarket vapor separator with 3/8 inlet/ outlet and 5/16 or 1/4 return (don’t really remember...

    Fan Shroud Gap

Hey guys I have a 73 Challenger with 440. My radiator is a 26” four core champion aluminum radiator. I’m using clutch fan with 7 blades. I’m using a mildon high volume water pump and Mildon 180 high flow thermostat. Lower radiator hose has the thick spring in it. I’m using 1 gallon antifreeze...

LOUD POP POST SHUTDOWN FROM EXHAUST

Okay I took everybody’s suggestions and tried all. I got it to idle around 720 rpms in gear at 18* btdc after messing with the carb. Total is 2700 rpms at 37*. With vacuum advance hooked up it’s 55* btdc. NO POP from the exhaust on shutdown. I did find a small exhaust leak on the drivers side...

LOUD POP POST SHUTDOWN FROM EXHAUST

I haven’t heard anything like that. When it’s warm, it’s around 180* but slowly continues to climb to around 196. On a hot day, it will continue to climb around 206. Once I start driving it drops down to 180 and holds there.

LOUD POP POST SHUTDOWN FROM EXHAUST

What do you mean by ping? It accelerates kind of slow at first and then it goes. Also I can stomp the pedal or it will bog down. If I push the pedal 3/4 of the way, it accelerates rather quickly. It does make any popping noises or backfiring.

LOUD POP POST SHUTDOWN FROM EXHAUST

Not sure how old the cam is. Profile? If my initial timing is around 20*, it doesn’t do it. 18* it only does it on a hot day.

LOUD POP POST SHUTDOWN FROM EXHAUST

It seems like the car just doesn’t idle right at 800. I’ll mess around with it and see if I can find a happy medium between 800 and 900. I let you know.
