    Exhaust manifold gasket

I bought the last stones at a local machine shop supply. Previously, I bought things there like cutting fluid, taps, thread inserts, and layout dye. Also, check out McMaster-Carr's website at mcmaster.com. However, you may want to get enough things to make shipping worthwhile. They can estimate...

This old guy is finally gonna start on his car(again)

Welcome! I bought my Cuda for $1300 when I was 15 and am just now starting some big projects on it as I turn 63 this year. As the others have said... just do it. It's therapeutic.

    Drumb to Disc Swap

The best bang for the buck braking system that I did on a vintage MoPar was on my 69 340 Dart. I swapped the front drum brakes for factory discs, kept the rear drums, and installed an NOS master and an adjustable proportioning valve. I dialed out a lot of the braking from the 10" rear drums to...

    Exhaust manifold gasket

I had about 150,000 leak-free miles without gaskets or silicone. The trick is to "stone" the surfaces on the head and the manifold first. Use a knife sharpening stone on each interface until you see bare metal spots at the top, bottom, left and right. Wipe the surfaces with a clean cloth and...

Wheel Vintiques vs Factory Rally Wheel

On all of the reproductions, the valve stem is in the wrong location. On the factory wheel, the valve stem is centered on one of the decorative holes. That way, when the trim ring is attached, the reflection of the hole hides the black valve stem.

70 Cuda Door Panels, Rear Side Panels, Kick Panels in Black

I am 90% certain the trim is OEM and have seen it on 71 Cudas, and maybe 70 Cudas.

70 Cuda Door Panels, Rear Side Panels, Kick Panels in Black

Do you know if anyone makes the woodgrain inserts or the red inserts that go in the groove in the door panels?

    Old clutch and New 4-speed

The clutch specs, such as pressure plate clamping force, are mostly a function of engine torque. If the engine hasn't changed and everything is mechanically compatible, such as the same input shaft diameter and spline count, then keeping the old clutch is fine if it worked well before the swap.

    Engine Temp Incresing

What's your ignition advance for full mechanical (wide open throttle) and full mechanical + vacuum (at cruise)? A "late" burn will not produce power, just heat. Degreed timing tape on the balancer will help you diagnose. I run 35 degrees at WOT and 50 degrees total at cruise. You may just have a...

15 Inch OEM rally wheels, What are they worth?

The 70-71 stamping of 15x7's should be 2944390, visible by the valve stem hole. I was fortunate to buy my 15x7's a few years after I bought my 70 Cuda in 1977. I found one at a tire shop for $10 and the next three for $15 each at the boneyard. The dealers no longer had the brushed trim rings...

    Wooden Pistol Grip Handle

I had 8-10 hours into the set of grips in the pictures, since it was all hand work, with no tooling or automation. How much is minimum wage? I could make them quicker if I developed some tooling, but I only needed one set for my car. I made them years before the aftermarket ones appeared, but...

    Wooden Pistol Grip Handle

You can make your own grips just as I did. You need a Dremel, a half-inch thick piece of wood for the thin grip and a one-inch-thick piece for the thick grip. I bought some birch for $5 or so and some stain. The stain I picked was to make the grips look like maple. I was too cheap to buy real...

Nut size and thread pitch needed.

The top fasteners are 1/4-20 x .75 long screws, threaded into U-nuts. The bottom fasteners are 5/16-18 x .875 long screws. See pictures below.

    Cuda front tires

Volk Racing. Unfortunately, they discontinued the +10 offset in the model that I bought, just a few years ago. Fortunately, I knew when I ordered that Volk eventually discontinues less popular offsets, so I bought six wheels right after they started offering a +10 offset.

First post - 1973/1970 AAR clone with a 440 BB - looking for tire/wheel size advise

The factory offset was +6.35 to +12.70 mm, so choices in that range usually fit best. Rim width should be 70 to 90% of tire section width, with the greatest contact patch control at the 90% end. Therefore, an 8.5" rim should have a 9.44" (90%) to 12.14" (70%) wide tire and a 9.5" rim should have...

    'Cuda Pedal Box Swop

Pete - A photo of the two brackets side by side would have helped. I'm glad that the diagram was useful. I relied on that diagram for mine, since all the 4-speed pedal parts I bought came loose, in a box. The part that's still a mystery is that my manual brake pedal bolted right in, since the...

    More cooling for my T/A

Yes, get a temp gauge. You may not have a problem. That said, there's one thing I didn't see (or just missed) in the advice - ignition advance. I had some overheating problems. But, after checking all the boxes with respect to new radiator, correct thermostat, correct fan and shroud, etc., etc...

    'Cuda Pedal Box Swop

When I converted the pedal assembly from auto to manual on my 70 Cuda, I didn't change the large pedal bracket to which the brake pedal attaches. I swapped the wide brake pedal for the narrow one. Then, I mounted the clutch pedal to the side of the large pedal bracket, using the small pedal...

compression check 360 good or bad ?

What spring rate, in inches of mercury (Hg) are your metering rod springs? Too weak of a spring will allow the metering rods to drop and restrict the primary jets when the throttle closes and vacuum momentarily increases. For example, if you have metering rod springs rated at 4 in Hg and vacuum...

    Cuda front tires

I am running 255 40 17 tires on all four corners on forged aluminum 17 x 9, +10 offset wheels. The 25" tire diameter helps for clearance on the front. A larger diameter tire of the same width would not clear when steering.
