FOR SALE 1970 340 block. VIN#0B164882

Hello everyone! I just joined in hopes to reunite this 1970 340 block which is believed to have come from an E-Body. I am not trying to sell this block to just anyone yet. I would like it to be reunited with the car it came from if possible first! The block is .040" over and the bores are fresh but do have some small areas of surface rust. They will clean up easily with a ball hone. The bores have been notched at the bottom for a 4" stroke crank with H beam rods. This block belonged to a friend who passed away recently. He was going to build this engine but never did. It has been in New England for at least 25 years. The VIN stamp reads 0B164882 and was cast on 7/10/69. If you can provide proof of ownership I will sell you this block for exactly what I paid for it which was VERY reasonable! I am NOT trying to make money on this engine, I just want it back where it belongs! I am located in Woonsocket Rhode Island. Again, I am not trying to sell this block unless you can provide me proof of vehicle ownership. Thank you! Lee Sousa

I checked the A66 Challenger Registry; serial number not on file. I can tell you that the engine was in a car that was scheduled to be built at Hamtramck on January 21, 1970.
Another thing you can do is check the back of the crank to see if there is a pilot bushing installed? It will tell you if the engine was hooked up to manual transmission. We would then know another clue to the car.

I checked the A66 Challenger Registry; serial number not on file. I can tell you that the engine was in a car that was scheduled to be built at Hamtramck on January 21, 1970.

Hi Phil. Unfortunately the original rotating assembly is long gone. The engine was being assembled as a 416" stroker when I purchased it. It could very well be that the car met its' demise many years ago. Lee.

If this was indeed an E-body (and I am not saying that it is) then the fender tags for sequence number 0B164882 would have had a Scheduled Production Date of A21 or A22 which is October 21 or 22.
