Paint on heart shield could be trouble unless Hi-Temp paint was used, Even Then I would be hesitant simply because how close these are to pipes

Because they are painted! Yes with high heat cast blast. Not sure why that would be an issue??

where do they mount on the car ??

Bottom side of trunk floor, one on each side of gas tank above exhaust. Single exhaust has one and dual exhaust has two.

I just bought a 73 challenger but the 318 was pulled out and a 440 crate motor was installed and it has the mufflers before the rear axle

Stock dual exhaust had two mufflers and two resonators.
