Does anyone have experience using urethane adhesive to install a rear window? I got a couple of quotes for over $200, just to glue the window in. The glass is already out of the car. I checked the internet, all I could find was the installation with butyl tape. May be I need to widen the search beyond MOPARS. Thanks

The urethanes are better on some ways, not so in others. The biggest negative with the urethane is controlling how to spreads and bleads as the glass is pressed into place. More than once have I heard/read about difficult cleanup, painful detailing, and the urethane not being hidden by the chrome trim.

The butyl rope/tape is cheap, effective, and what they used at the factory. They wont have the bleeding issue or visibility problem (unless placed on the flange incorrectly) It is my recommendation to just use the butyl rope/tape.

I used both. Installed the butyl rope/tape first. Used the butyl rope/tape to set to the depth or height however you see it. You don't have to use all just what you need. The glass is not as thick as OEM. It gives you a second chance. Then sealed the rest of the outside and edge with urethane. I then troweled the edges in tight to for a good seal. Just be sure to leave room for clips and trim. Usually not a problem.

I used the butyl tape for my back window and windshield. I took Challenger RTA's advice and used the urethane to seal the backside of the butyl tape, just for good measure. I have had no leaks on either window and I had never installed a back window or windshield before.

I found that unless you find a glass guy that has experience doing older cars that they may not put down the correct thickness of urethane thus making the windows sit shallow in the window frame. Now when you try to install the stainless trim, you will have a large gap between the glass and the moldings.

Butyl worked well, especially with setting the trim. Finding someone that knows how to install it correctly is a hard find. These glass guys only can set glass with urethane. Be patient the old timers are still out there.
