My 72 rally has an 8000 rpm tach.

My 72 has a 7000 RPM Tach, the car came with a 318

My rally dash also came out of a 72 Challenger 318, but is an 8000 RPM tach. Maybe an early car and they were using left over 8000 RPM tachs till they were exhausted.

Maybe because it's a Challenger? Mine's a Cuda'

70-71 parts book shows Cuda & Challenger using same tach, no rpm difference. The 72 Challenger was bought for the Rally dash and junked after I removed dash and wiring because car was a rust bucket back then and no after market sheet metal available.
