seat racks for a e body

Anyone know how the seat track mounts on the bottom of the seats ? I have new seat tracks but hadn't started taking the driver side off to mount them yet. Just looking to see what is instore before I start . Thanks

There are two bolts per track that fasten through the track ends and thread into the lower seat frame.

I found this thread for looking photos to help me reassemble my 72 seat tracks, which I have cleaned and repainted.

On the 70-71 cars, what are the cables between the seat tracks for? My track sets do not have the arms for the cables, or the cables themselves. Mopar must have discontinued them.

Also, will any grease do to lube the tracks?

The cable is to release both adjuster tracks. I thought all buckets had them, but I'm mostly familiar with 70 and 71. Maybe 72 - 74 only has one adjuster track and the other just slides?

I usually just use grease from my grease gun that I use to grease ball joints and tie rod ends. Just a little bead and spread with my finger.

I too only have experience with 70-71s but seem to recall hearing that later seats had only the one outboard adjuster track.

I used white lithium grease, which I believe matched what the factory did on seat sliders and window tracks.

Thanks to both of you. Looks like one adjuster track per seat. Here is a pic of the passenger side set I have. The parts are still separated and the springs are not in the pic.

I used the seat tracks without the cable and only one side adjusts on my convertible. They work as good as the earlier style. Reason I did is because I needed the room for speakers under the seats. Hard to find any space for speakers in a vert

Thanks Avalanche. I reassembled and greased my passenger seat tracks the other day and attached them to the seat. It appears they are working great. I had to think a long minute about how to get them back together without dropping the bearings and nylon carriers on the floor but then it clicked. I just need to install the seat now. Then on to the driver side.

Why did you decide to install speakers under the seats? Was this for specific acoustic reasons, or were you trying to preserve the original speakers in the dash?

I have a standard dash arrangement without AC or 3 speakers. When I eventually hook the radio back up, I do not want to cut up the kick panels or door panels in any way with speakers. So I have to hide the front speakers somehow. Possibly underseat would be good. I had not thought of that.

Being a convertible, I don't have anywhere to put speakers behind the rear seats. I put 2 tweeters under the center dash cover, mids in the kick panels, and under seats. Alos have a bass in the trunk.
The under seat is a box type speaker made for underneath the seats. I can't think of who made them, but I'll try and find out.

Oh I see. The whole package tray area on a coupe is occupied by the folding roof.

I want to put in a very simple system; just 4 speakers with 2 up front somewhere and the other 2 at the package tray. I still have a lot of interior work to do as I just finished putting in a new carpet; I will lay in some speaker wire before I reinstall the seals and come back to the radio and speakers later. I plan to add either blue tooth capability to the stock AM radio or just a 1/8 in jack to allow hooking up an MP3 player, and an amp.

Coupes don't have folding roofs, only convertibles do.
