I purchased a universal tilt from ididit because I didn't want the key in the ignition as I'm going push button start. I removed the threaded plates from the factory column and will weld them to the tilt column so I can use the factory mounting bracket.

Thanks all, I ended up mounting the wheels on the car just to be safe. I had to disassemble the brakes so they would clear but this is the best way to do it. Tonight I'll start on the pass side braces.

Is it ok to weld the US Cartool kit on with the car on jacks or should it be on the ground?

Yeah, I was thinking that too. I could always weld that area under the dash to the firewall as well.
