Here we go! 78 motorhome 440, external balance. rebuilt the motor, some goodies in it etc etc. New BM flexplate 237, the one with crescent notch. and a New Hughes 24-30 stall convertor. Engine has a large vibration first startup and a little tuning, literally too much vibration to adjust idle...

Well....from the bottom it shall be! Picked up my short block yesterday and the machine shop owner (e-body guru) says its way easier from underneath. He also said installing the cam bearings are worse than installing headers, glad he did that and not me! Thanks everybody for the headsup on...

What about the torsion bars? they look like a pain in the a**!

I have an 03mach1 i did from the bottom once, was fairly easy with a lift, unfortunately i no longer have a lift so over the top it is. I am thinking i only need to disconnect the steering linkage and then wrestle with the headers (dougs). If i end up speaking french, so be it!

laying the headers in and motor and trans bolted together is what i am going to try to do. I really dont want to drop the K, will have to unbolt steering either way

Will a 440 and 727 go in a challenger bolted together or does the trans need to be in the tunnel before the engine. Headers?

it is an earlier small block, 73 i think so i was planning on putting everything from the small block into the '76 big block case.

I found a donor RV/motorhome, '76 440 727 w transbrake. can i use a small block 727 shaft and tail cone to convert the RV 727 to my car?

Well I found a complete car for what i want! The extra money spent was worth it, one owner for the past 34 years. Minimal rust repairs on car. Looking for a 440! 318 car purchased as a roller. Zero complaints! fiberglass front end pictured, have original fenders, hood etc.

lol, yea i lived in PA for a while, eye opener for sure. I passed on the car, not really for the rust but just too many projects. I will say this challenger almost made me foget about my 41 willys. will start looking for another e-body this fall.

Well for now i have passed on the deal.
