How did you get your screen name?

I thought of mine in 1982 having been in the Print game when "Hot Metal" was still being used, thought it was a good name for a race car. Shame I didn't register the name as Vauxhall (GM) bought out a sporty model here in UK just after and called it....... you guessed it!!:(

is a high 11 sec 1/4 mile possible

Hi, to run low 12's@110-3400lbs you will need that motor to make around 380hp with a good hooking car and 60's in the 1.65's. I doubt if 380 is on the cards with those motor specs, heads are good but the cam is a tad mild. I would say 340 with those Eddies at a guess (perhaps more?) which could...

    360 with a stroker it...

I would also say a 408 from your 360. Its BB power without the extra expense of another g/box etc. etc. there are many Mopar only builders around, some on this thread who you need to talk to, another reputable builder from what I have seen is "MRL Performance", do a search, this guy knows his...

    cam to make 400hp

Well if its a '72 340, 8.5:1CR which is not stated you got a job on your hands to get 400hp.....if earlier 68>'71 your at 10:1ish?....even then I can't see 400hp without working the heads to flow at least 240>250cfm with a good v/job etc., get the heads flowed once ported then you can pick a cam...

Old Racer from across the pond

Hi y'all, a short intro about myself.........my story starts out in 1977 when I bought a 1968 Dodge Charger 318 for £700=around $1400, thought it was real cool but after 6 months it just wasn't fast enough anymore and I swapped it for 1965 K code Mustang f/back, had a lot of fun in that stick...

How many HP is my 340 pushing?

I can only give you an idea based on my '71 340 Cuda street/strip car which was all stock (no's car) lthr interior etc., apart from Centerlines, a 3500 stall converter, Holley SD intake, 750DP, .484"/284 purple hyd., 3.55 gears posi and 26" slicks. The car hooked well and ran 13.3's@101 in the...
