Not sure about use with mechanical pump, but as far as noise, I went through two different external electric fuel pumps before finally switching to a Holley in-tank unit made for e-bodies. Both externals were so loud it took all the fun out of driving my car.
I dont have AC; but my 22" 4 core aluminum Champion with their shroud and electric fan keep my 440 with auto trans cool even in California summer heat. It was a tight fit that required a little shroud modification. I have a stock water pump and Milodon thermostat.
This is what I have in my 72 Challenger. I really like it. No modification; it gets held in with a longer replacement center screw.

My passenger side door has almost all new hardware inside and sounds just as terrible as my almost original driver's side door when closing. Like 70chall440 said, I've just started to figure it's just basically the way they're built. But I don't like it either.
Yep, I have the same problem. Hard to articulate, but Ive found cocking the nozzle left or right will get it to pop past the flip top mechanism; and same to get it back out. But it stresses me out everytime.
I used Herb's Parts interior paint to redo mine. I lightly sanded a couple deep scratches before hitting the panels with a few light coats of the spray-on dye. I was very happy with the color being refteshed from how faded they were. I guess it depends on your goal. For me, making them look...
I found this picture of my 72 that was still up on the site of the place I bought it. Doesnt cover all of what you want; but maybe it'll help a little.
Hello,
I just ordered heavy duty leaf springs (6 leafs) to replace the standard rear springs on my 72 Challenger. Does anyone know if that will require any change in hardware, such as longer U-bolts or anything else I should order ahead of time?
Thanks
Thanks Rapidfire. And scar426, I really like it. It fits cans pretty snugly, so I don't know if Yeti is wider? I don't LOVE the way it looks, but with no AC, having something to drink is worth it. And it comes out easily because it mounts with one extra long screw into a factory screw hole...
