I'm currently pulling the Wilwood rear disc brakes in favor of the Dr Diff drum kit for 15" factory steel wheel clearance the Wilwood calipers don't allow.

Thank you all who have responded. I have at least two independent folks with known credibility that say there is/are something wrong with the tag codes - and that's enough for me. I've contacted the owner of the car and declined the swap.

Sorry I haven't been clear. The car has a non-numbers 383 currently - no 340 in sight.

No build sheet or window sticker - nothing else but the original fender tag to prove provenance. I'd have to source a small block bellhousing and 340 to convert it back.
