    Rough Idle

After I adjusted the float level, I adjusted the idle mixture screws. I tried the method you mentioned and with a vacuum gauge. The vacuum doesn't seem to change when I make the adjustment. I'm running the idle at 900 (auto trans). I disconnected the vacuum hoses one at a time and plugged the...

    Rough Idle

I'll try another carb. It runs fine above idle and idles better when it's warmed up, but still a little rough. Thanks

    Engine Build Date

Thanks. I'll take a look at the passenger side.

    Engine Build Date

Such a complex way to code the details. I'm having a problem decoding the stamping on my engine. The car was originally a 383 2 barrel. It was converted to a AAR clone by the previous owner. The 340 needs to be rebuilt so I want to be sure I have the proper year.

    Engine Build Date

I have a 340 engine. I'm trying to determine what year the engine is. I located the stamped info at the base of the head on the driver's side. I have looked on different threads that explain the stampings. I don't understand what they mean about a 10,000 day calendar, when they talk about the...

Power Steering Pump and Gear Box ID

I plan on converting my 70 Barracuda to power steering, First, is there a difference between a big block pump and a small block pump? Second, will a steering box from a A or B body fit an E body? Thanks

    Thanks for the info.

    Rough Idle

It's running a little better after I replaced the plug wires, cap and rotor. I think I'll try the carb next. I did a compression test. #1 is 95, the rest are 120. I also did a leak down test. It sounds like the rings are leaking. No smoke, yet. I plan on a rebuild after I fix a couple of...

Steering Shaft Moves In and Out

I think the collar is about a 1/2 inch. from what I have seen in photos and videos. Thanks

Steering Shaft Moves In and Out

know the 70 is different on a Barracuda. The lock out and some cosmetic things , like the finish on the turn signal and the hazard switch is different. If I can't fix the problem, I may look for a replacement. Thanks

Steering Shaft Moves In and Out

Do you know if a challenger steering column will fit? I know the 70 column is different from the 71-74. I think I won't be able to find a lockout plate, so I'm looking at alternatives. I'm going to try the shims first and see what happens. I'll keep you posted. Thanks to you and everyone for...

Steering Shaft Moves In and Out

I didn't realize how thick that plate is, until I saw the photo of the column disassembled. I thought it was a thin plate. I didn't see the plate that well on Cody Cuda's video. I guess the chances of finding a new plate is slim to none. I know there are some differenced between the 70 and the...

Steering Shaft Moves In and Out

I'm 99.9% the splines are lined up correctly. I lined up the 2 flat splines. I hand tighten it and torqued it. If the splines were not lined up, this wouldn't affect the shaft moving in and out of the steering coupler. What photos would be helpful? The can and the column, the top snap ring or...

Steering Shaft Moves In and Out

I tried to install this upper snap ring. I'm not able to push the steering wheel back down.
