Timely post on your part! Did the universe let you know I was working on my car this morning?
I haven’t gotten to the fuse box yet. I bought a 100A CVS racing 1 wire alternator and did that upgrade this morning. I just taped off the old charge wire for now and ran a new #6 wire to the starter...
I know the feeling! Yours is looking good. I’ve had mine since 2000 and only recently got it reliable enough to drive regularly. Good luck with it!
Make sure you buy the cable that is for an AC car. The non ac cable will be too short.
Nice ride! What is left of the cable is connected correctly.
Posts 5, 7, and 11 show where it comes through the firewall. Sounds like there are two options of where it goes, depending on the year.
In post 14 you can see the valve on the passenger side of the engine compartment. It has two...
Do you have the four seasons heater control valve, or an original? Maybe post a pic of it and we can help. If you’re just using heat, you could manually open the valve under the hood. Problem is you’ll always have hot water flowing through the heater core, which might make it hot during summer...
I think the path won’t matter… the inter cable is just too long.
Hooking it up under the dash was also such a PITA that I’m resisting rerouting it!
My heater control panel also points the cable towards the drivers side hole. In later models, does the panel point it towards the passenger side?
So I finally got around to routing this and the inner cable/wire seems to be too long. Any advice here? I was thinking of heating it and coiling it around the valve’s connection point, then trimming the extra. Don’t want to ruin the cable tho in case I’m looking at it wrong.
Might be worth...
I have the VHX setup for my gauges. I looked at the RTX manual and it looks pretty close to the VHX setup so I hope this helps, as I had a similar issue.
First, with your key on, what’s the voltage at the sending unit connector, with it disconnected? I was getting intermittent voltage, and...
Has anyone had their AC hoses rebuilt? Mine look pretty dried out. Does anyone sell new hoses or is a rebuild the only option?
If I have them rebuilt, is there anything I need to know ahead of time? If I can’t buy new ones I don’t want to make the ones I have worse as they currently hold a vacuum.
Thanks! Those wires are actually for a compass and outside air module for my Dakota digital gauges. I hadn’t tucked them away as I needed to do some troubleshooting.
I’m undecided on the sub. The head unit has an output for one but it sounds pretty good as is, so I’m calling this project a...
Component list with pricing is below. I included my original junk amp in this cost. Rounded everything up to the closest dollar.

16awg Speaker Wire 25.00
#10 wire 41.00

Quick follow up for anyone stumbling on this post with questions on the front speaker. This retro sound d-412 is awesome. I wired it into a system a month or two ago and it performs great. It is impressively loud with a 200W amp paired with two 6x9 speakers. IMO it’s too loud to crank all the...
Thanks. I looked at putting it here but one of the AC hoses seemed to be in the way. I’ll take a second look, or maybe put it on the other side of the battery.
And by feed to the starter solenoid post, you mean the wire from the battery to that post? Mine looks to have been replaced and is...
Has anyone wired an auxiliary fuse box in? I am going to put my low beams and high beams on relays, and wanted that to look cleaner than just having two relays hanging somewhere with in line fuses. I also replaced my gauges and don’t have the ammeter any more; the ammeter terminal wires have...
Correct. Here is an example off Challenger RTA’s schematic where BJ and RW are referenced. Thanks! I was thinking it was differences between options packages on an e body. Not a different platform… which makes sense.
