You're spot on, Challenger RTA
the part of life - that sucks...
makes it hard sometimes to want to get close -

Lost Shadows
The trail may be less traveled now
Enriched memories are fuller
Many good conversations
Meaningful friendships
Wisdom gathered
A lesson could be to relish what little time we have, making relationships with those people we meet along the way on that trail -

Meaningful friendships
As I told my son all his life when growing up. Friends come and go. You are lucky to have true friend all you life, not just a fair weather friend. When you do see the high school or collage friends. There old and gray and 40#+ like you will be. I myself just met one 50 years later a good friend and good cop! But your family will always be there come hell or high water.

A year or two ago. A new friend came into our lives. If you ever heard the expression. At the drop of a hat! "If you do something at the drop of a hat, you do it immediately without stopping to think about it." He was there before the hat hit the ground. If I was even thinking about what was going to do or what I needed. He popup and help with out even saying or asking for anything.
I do pay for help.
One time I was doing repair work on one of the roofs had to put up scaffolding up. He showed up and helped. He didn't Like height. That's fine a ground man is a very big plus. Later did more work and he showed up! A very competent person knew how to do stuff! So when I was up there working he got a text from my BOSS (WIFE). I have a phone I think I picked up 3 times last year. I don't need that lease. Her car wouldn't start. He was on his way. I said wait for me!
So a few months pass and he fell on hard times like a lot of people. We told him to stay in one of other houses if he wanted. He wanted to pay rent. NO as much as he help it's no big deal. A few months went by and he got back on his feet. Then he was gone. He got a job that he used to do. I really miss that shadow! Our son refers to him as an uncle. I think as him as a son. The wife wants to adopt him and give him a house.
So this is the dark side of the shadow. when he was here on hard times. He picked up other work for an LLC. Taking care of homes. We have 3 houses already. The LLC had a few then now up to about 20. So when he left I got handed the torch. I'm Retried Right! I do the work and they send him the money. I don't do cash app or what ever. At any given time he has a few thousand. I trust him. I tell him if you need it use it. I DON'T CARE! About every 6 month he pops in and gives me cash. HE is our lucky charm!
We are so fortunate to know him! Sorry if this is a bit off topic.
