Dents in rear frame rails

Hello all,

Been working on my 70 challenger and noticed some dents in both sides of the rear frame rails above the axle. It looks like someone hammered them but for the life of me I can't think of any reason someone would do this...everything appears normal on the axle and sway bar incase something had broken and hit the frame rails. Passenger side is worse as seen in the pictures.

Those aren’t dents. The ends of the rear shock crossmember are shaped like that. If the heavy undercoating wasn’t there you’d see the detail clearer.

Yeah, I realize my photos aren't great at showing the dents...I will try to get some better angles on it tonight. Thanks

I had another 73 barracuda that was drag raced and had the same "kink" in that spot but only on the passenger side. On my car, I think it was from drag racing.
