DIY front and rear torque boxes

Thanks Guys! Good info. I'm not an engineer to plan the folds and turns for maximal strength, but looking the examples and originals I should have a pretty good idea. Thanks again.

DIY front and rear torque boxes

Hi folks, I'm planning to fabricate and install front and rear torque boxes to my 1970 Challenger 440+727. Has anybody fabricated them? All hints and tips are much appreciated!

    Window tinting film color

I got tint film which is very close to the original color. Without the white paper sheet behind the glass it is very difficult to notice difference. It's perhaps a bit darker and low on green, but good enough for me! https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzgMPDy

American autowire 12V supply during cranking

This issue was solved and now car starts and runs well. I put unmarked brown wire (12V during cranking) and pink IGN wire together to feed ECU, CDI and distributor. I also have alternator which needs excite wire and had to put diode to stop the backfeed because otherwise car did not turn off...

American autowire 12V supply during cranking

THanks for sharing! Nice to see that it can be done in several ways. I sent the question also to AAW tech support and this is what I got from there:

American autowire 12V supply during cranking

Thanks for your input and the link. I forgot to mention that I have Hyper Spark ignition, so there is no ballast resistor. Diode sounds a good silution. Just that I haven't used diodes before.. have to study a bit. I wonder what is the IGN2 in the AAW harness? Was also thinking about using a...

American autowire 12V supply during cranking

Thanks Challenger RTA. Otherwise AAW wiring works well (except fuel gauge shows full all the time but that's another story) and installation instructions were pretty clear. I'll check the pink and brown!

American autowire 12V supply during cranking

Hi fellow e-body gearheads, I have installed AAW wiring harness 510289 and Holley Sniper EFI to 1970 Challenger. I have difficulties to find a 12V supply which is hot in "Run" and "Start" keyed ignition switch positions. Car does not start without 12V during cranking. Power leads in the...

    Window tinting film color

OK thanks for your comments. I'll continue searching and update here if I find a match.

    Window tinting film color

Hi folks, one of my quarter windows is tinted and other one is clear. Does anybody know where I could get window tint film in a color that would match the factory-tinted glass color? I ordered green film but as you can see, the shade is wrong. Original tint is more bluish-green.

    TF727 rear mount not centered

Thanks all for your input! I'll get a poly bushing and see how it goes.

    TF727 rear mount not centered

Hi Steve, thanks for the tip! Did you loosen the engine mounts before pulling the trans rear to drivers side?

    TF727 rear mount not centered

Thanks guys, I have new mount ready but started wondering if the mount bushing sitting non-center is normal (depenging on the angle of engine+trans) or something that should be fixed. The crossmember in the picture should go left (co-driver side) or tranny should go right (driver side) to make...

    TF727 rear mount not centered

I started to replace the support mount for the 727 in my 70' Challenger and noticed that it is quite a bit off-center (also found out that the crossmember is from 72-74 car and had to drill a couple of new holes but that should not matter the mount position). Is this something that needs...

    TF727 rooster comb

Hi, I have 1967 TF727 transmission in 1970 Challenger. Tranny has 1-prong neutral safety switch without back-up light switch. From various Mopar forums I learned that updating to 3-prong switch with backup lights (1969 and up) would need also new "rooster comb" inside the tranny. How difficult...

    Starter wiring

Great, that worked well and it seems that the starter is OK 👍🏻

    Starter wiring

Thanks for the advice! Would this wiring work then? I assumed that when you feed 12V to the starter relay IGN terminal (#3 in the picture), it connects terminals #1 and #2 and lets power go also to the smaller terminal in starter.

    Starter wiring

Hi, My1970 Challenger has not been started for >25 years. Previous owner has messed around with the wiring under the hood. I started to go through the wiring and to test if starter motor is working or not. It is now wired as shown in the picture but does not react when jumping the two uppermost...
