I also have a question on the speedo adapter. What does the adapter/mechanism look like that goes into the transmission. I did a 518 swap and the space in that area is tight. Hoping someone has pics of their install. Thx

Put in on jacks and spin the tires, count the driveshaft revolutions, simple calculation.

Either will work, diode is easier to integrate, small and cheap. Tape it up in the wiring harness. Look for a diode used in solar panels, handles power and has a low voltage drop.

Note which way it turns. Next step will be attaching a drill to other end and seeing if the speedo is the problem. I believe its CCW, but check that.

Did it work before? Pull cable end out of speedo, take it for a drive and see if it's turning.
