Yes, a sales failure. Huge investment, low return, and canceled after just 4.5 years of production. The total sold never even equaled the first years sales target.
I've owned a couple challengers now, they're quickly becoming my favorite car, but I can see why they didn't sell well. Poor fit...
Thanks for the reply, guess I'm just SOL if I want power brakes AND solid lifters. Can't "have cake and eat it too" as they say...
As long as I've got your attention, how did you get your oil cap clocked the right way, are those repop valve covers? Whats the story on the fuel pressure regulator...
Anybody out there running solids in a hemi with power brakes in an E-body?
My 71 rt is currently a 400 auto with power steering and manual drums. I'm doing bodywork now and brake work is next. While the 400 will stay for quite a while, ultimately I want the car to end up with a Hemi 4 spd and...
I used to dislike the 72-74 generation until I owned one. They are a huge bargain in my opinion. They come standard with 8 3/4 axles, most seem to have slap stik shifters, and you can buy 'em up for a fraction of the price of 70-71 cars. I'd own a hundred of them if there was space to put them in!
Looks like there was a deadbeat buyer and the car is up for sale again. They sure know how to tempt me, luckily its already over what my "stupid money" level would be.
Can you still order things from shakerhood? I thought Ben Snobar died recently...Would love a shaker kit for my challenger but I don't want to offend somebody by calling them up asking to buy his stuff.
Love how those polys look on the challenger!
Did you run radials on this car before switching to the poly's to compare the ride? This year I switched my '70 Road Runner from radials to those exact same F60-15's. I haven't really noticed any difference in ride or handling though. Its a non-power...
13 of 13. I got hung up on the second one though. That '70 satellite has a base Belvedere grill in it and dog dishes instead of higher trim wheel covers. '70 Satellites and Sport Satellites used the honeycomb grill like the GTX. So its either a Belvedere with Satellite trim all over it, or a...
Thanks for the response Chryco. A little update: Looks like someone added the hood pin holes as they aren't even in a functional location and the hood still has the front latch stuff on it. After doing some research, I was finally able to determine all the codes on the fender tag. Here they are...
Here's the little bit I know:
New mega blocks' castings are bulged out on the sides to enlarge the water jackets to accommodate the beefy siamese bores (good for a claimed 4.6"!) I have one brand new casting and one a couple years old and they both have freeze plugs up front.
On both of my...
I have a couple questions
I have the original hood(junk) and a good hood(pictured). After removing everything of use from the original hood, are there any important numbers to chop out before scrapping it?
Is a suregrip standard on a 71r/t? Looks like the original ratio tag is still there...
You aren't kidding! it's as rough as one can get before its a parts car! I sure didn't pay his 'buy it now' price. Don't worry I would never have the heart to part one out.
As far as details on the car, I haven't found a build sheet. The fender tag was almost disintegrated from rust, but...
