Definitely look for a crushed rear brake line. I agree with @Steve340 and jack up my Mopars at the k-frame or center of the rear axle. After my Dad drove my Mom's Valiant off over a pair of ramps, I've never used those things either! Poor Dad got an ear full that day.
That is one beautiful 70...
Definitely sounds like an exhaust leak because it tends to go away when you revved the engine. A lifter or rod bearing would just get faster. At night, you should be able to see flames like @Mopar Nut mentioned if you can get at the right angle - might have to crawl under the car. And the only...
You can't even find the Mopar Performance XHD leaf springs any more. But I've had them on my 70 Challenger for about 20 years now. No sagging or sitting too low. Looks pretty level to me.
In my opinion, I would pass. Either of the three are less hassle to live with: Hooker #5115, Doug 453(?) and TTI 1 5/8 or their stepped header. Cheap deals usually aren't good deals!
@Vaath did you install 70s R/T strips on the 2021 Challenger? I ask because if you did, Chrysler certainly followed the side "ripple" pretty dang close between old and new! 🙂
Since you have a small block 360, get a 518/46rh automatic with overdrive, and install the 4.10 rear end! With .69 overdrive, your 4.10 will become a 2.83! Best of both worlds.
The only thing I have close to what you're looking for is a 64 Imperial with a 413 (basically the same as a 440 but smaller bore). The MCC Detroit book has several pictures in it, but I'm not sure what you're looking for. The AC unit brackets bolts onto the water pump housing and intake in two...
The compressor itself will fit just about any Mopar with that type of compressor. They were good in their day, but everyone just about is converting to the modern universal compressor. Mostly because when that monster kicks in, you can feel the horsepower drain! There are brackets and pulleys to...
Since the donor car has been crushed, I'd keep the dash VIN and Fender tag and put them on a wooden plack and hang it in your garage for a momento of where your 73 Challenger got a lot of its parts. 🙂
If you're comfortable making your own spark plug wires, you can get a set of Rajah terminals for the sparkplug end. Below is a link to a set from Speedway Motors. They won't come off easily! I have a set of sparkplug wires for my big block Mopar that uses Packard 440 wires and Rajah terminals...
Dan, welcome to FEBO from the desert! Not a bad looking 73 Challenger! Will be fun when you get it running and driving! Have your grandson help occasionally! Good bonding and we need future Mopar lovers! 😁
What sucks is there isn't any 383/400 intake manifold with fuel injector bungs. But the great thing is the 384/400 likes single plane intakes as they like to rev! So pay the money and have someone weld in bungs into a single plane aluminum intake for your 383 and multiple port fuel injection...
Crude, cheap and effective: Just replace it with union or tee. The rear brakes need the proportioning and all that is needed is an adjustable proportion valve installed into the lines. Oh, so you lose the stupid red light coming on when the brakes fail! You'll know before that stupid light...
Definitely don't toss it. There might be someone looking for one. I remember a brother of a friend of mine had a 70 383 Cuda with bench seat and column shift automatic. I certainly wouldn't change that car to a floor shift with console.
