    Slow Start

So, in the end i ran Msd box power + and - directly to the new battery in the trunk with #10 stranded. I grounded the msd box to the chassis and block. Installed 1150cca XS power battery. #2 wire from Batt disconnect to starter, #2 wire from battery - to engine block. So overall better grounding...

    Slow Start

No it was definitely trash in the carb, it would start but only run if i kept pumping the squirters. It ran after i released starter switch. I am replacing the battery first, seems to me two attempts to start should not kill the battery. I am not counting out the starter either. If it was...

    Slow Start

Well, at wits end. Just ordered a new agm 1000cca. Red top is loosing charge quickly so i figure with this many re-charges from my C-Tek...its done. Ordered an XS 1150cca from summit. Will try that tuesday. When i added the #2 ground from trunk battery to the block it spun over great and fired...

thanks, not worried about the compression. This was a mild track car previously, garaged since '85, really good shape for being from chicago. So typical drag setup, battery in the trunk, electric fuel pump, not much for accessories, wiring is original. I added electric water pump along with the...

    Slow Start

SOLVED! I ran a new wire from the grounding terminal next to the battery in the trunk to bellhousing bolt next to starter. Starts like a Champ! Probably the best ground the engine has ever seen. Used a #2awg. A 4 would probably have worked but why do it twice after all the other tries! 🤪

Ok, finally got my motor back together and in the car. 400 stroked 499, trick flow heads and cam. calculated the compression to be around 11.5 to 1, It starts like its 13 to 1. I have one of the powermaster mini starters and a 800cca red top. Man its hard to start. turns real slow almost stops...

    Cylinder wall

Xcuda, Its a fresh bore, 4.375 (sitting sealed for 8mos). The first thing that popped in my brain was a thin spot in the bore. I scrubbed on it and the lines are gone but the oval blemish is still there. Was thinking its a thin spot in bore that got hot when they bored it. Gonna send it as a...

    pushrod lengths?

thinking of putting my 452s back on a B block, came off a 440. I need schooling on the Mopar valvetrain ie: how are they adjusted with the fixed rockers, do i have to measure for new pushrods? I have a set of 270 trick flows, rockers are adjustable so just measured for pushrod length and set the...

    rear calipers diameter

Willwoods are on and they fixed the clearance issue, 11" rotor and the calipers clear my billet 15x10s. Next issue, of course the brake line and banjo dont work! lol, oh well. the calipers are 1/8-27 but what size are the hard lines on the car?

    rear calipers diameter

Ok here goes. I am installing a set of Billet specialtys 15x10 on the rear and the disc brake caliper is binding on the inside of the wheel when i tighten the lugs. I am about to start grinding on the caliper housing. wondering if the caliper height for aerospace or wilwood brakes might be less...

    Cam Walked, whats the damage?

Hate to admit it but i did not ream the bushing! Hard lesson learned if that did it. At the least, i will go back with the AR cover and properly fit the bushing. I took my B block to the machine shop today and we will start planning the build later this week after it’s cleaned and checked...
