I have only purchased 1 NOS part in my life. It was a turn signal new in the box for my 74 Chrysler New Yorker and it was only like $30.00 shipped. Other than that could never afford an NOS anything. I just always refurbished or restore good used parts.
Welcome. Nice 71. I like it as is. I also have a luggage rack for my red 70 Challenger R/T S.E. and for my red 70 Charger R/T S.E. I just never liked how they look, so I have not added them to either car after all these years.

Looks good. I like it. I used my factory console. My aftermarket PPPC shifter lower bracket I made mounts to the factory mount holes with a riser/block off plate welded to the aluminum post that is "S" shaped and raises the shifter 6" and moves it back 4".
On a 70 so it had the big oval air cleaner. It was notched to clear as I have done on one of my current 440 sixpack set ups also that I did 37 years ago back when I was a teenager.
It's a shame about Hughes. However, it is not that big of a deal to just have a cam ground to a specific grind or have one custom ground to ones own specs.
You would think you guys could have gotten it running by now.....lol. That is a good run that most could never top. Congratulations on the life long friendship.
