...note that this is the "SCHEDULED" build date and not necessarily the actual build date of the car - but they usually are pretty close.
The sunroof tools can be found for a lot less than that. I have not studied my project sunroof car close enough to see if there is a more modern tool that...
...Does anybody know any way to get a build date on this without the build sheet or other paperwork? Also, is there a way to manually open the sunroof - seems like the motor is locked up or it's jammed. There's a guy on eBay selling a $5 tool for this for . . . . wait for it . . . . $575 ...
AMC PackRat sent me a PM - around 114 JH23 base Challengers and 82 Challenger R/Ts were outfitted with the power sunroof and shipped to the USA marketplace. Probably several more were shipped off to Canada and International destinations - those Europeans really liked sunroofs in their cars in...
...do that. o_O Trust me - it's not a pretty car . . .
Just wondering - does anybody have a real number on how many 70 Challengers had the sunroof (RTs and base models) or is that kind of info the stuff you have to pay "experts" for? I haven't been able to find any production...
When I researched this before I thought I only came up with about 53 sunroof cars for 70 Challengers but don't remember where I read that. I've watched this car sit and rot for over 35 years now. The previous owner left it in a very leaky garage and never drove it. He thought it was worth a...
That's a really rare and desirable combination i believe. Sunroof isn't my cup of tea but it would set off alarm bells for lots of other folks. That car would deserve a proper by the numbers restoration.

6,933 340 Challengers in '70, 343 were 3 spd manual, 2,819 were 4spds and 3,771 were automatics. How it breaks down from there can only be speculation. Very few sunroof cars though...
Pretty cool Challenger. I've owned 2 A66 340 Challengers. The sunroof is the rarest of the listed options. There is a guy that runs a sunroof registry and you should start with him to find out of anything remotely similar exists. He has a website.
...the R/T goodies on a standard JH model Chally. It sounds well optioned and what would make it more than likely 1 of 1 is the power windows, sunroof with ac. All that being said a friend of mine that hangs out on these forums says it would probably be harder to find two Mopars that were...
Interesting. I would guess that it would be the only FC7 340/4-spd sunroof car also for 1971. After you sold it, it looks like it hit eBay at least once in 2009, and then found its way to MotoeXotica in the St. Louis area: 1971 Dodge Challenger RT | MotoeXotica Classic Car Sales
Super cool car...
paharamia - Really enjoying your thread on the sunroof e-bodies.
Thanks! Its been fun tracking down all these interesting cars.
DetMatt1 - I agree, much appreciated! What happened to the old thread?
The old threads are still in the forums - you just have to go back several pages to find them...
...thread to show the new updates. A few new 70&71 Challengers, and a couple new 72 Barracudas.
All,
Been gathering information on early power sunroof Mopars ever since I liberated a 1971 sunroof Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus from a salvage yard in 2012. Here are the 1970 through 1972...
...A very neat car you had there. There is a member on cuda-challenger.com that has posted a couple of times (moparporsche) in my E body sunroof thread - says he has a 71 plum crazy sunroof Challenger 340/4-spd that he is just about finished restoring. I was guessing that he was the one that...
MINT - RARE - ONE OWNER VEHICLE - In 2009 only 368 B5 Blue (Surf blue) SRT8's were built. Less than 68 of those came equipped with a sunroof and 6.1 Hemi 6 speed along with every other option available that year, plus Dealer installed LO-JACK at time of purchase. This car is all original in...
The car started out as a loaded SRT8. Loaded with sunroof, power everything, touchscreen, HDD sat radio. Very nice car.
A Hell cat without the Price and Insurance.... This car is fast and nice to drive. I just do not get it out anymore and would rather have an older car to play with every now...
Alan of Alan Gallant Automotive Restorations is currently restoring a pair of 1970 sunroof Challengers. They are coming along nicely. Here are some pics and Alan's link for more pics. ALAN GALLANT AUTOMOTIVE RESTORATION
