Hi all. Attached is the repro tags received from MMC. Was $600 (ouch). They best represent the car that was originally delivered. I chose the fine line font that LA uses. Notice “000000” in sales order location. I do not really like to call it a “custom” tag as MMC calls it as that should be...
Thanks to all for first letting me know I had a repro tag and all the help getting it right. I am very confident that it very well represents the car and the options that were delivered with this car. I did restore this car 100% in my garage(s), so would know very well if something was added. I...
MoparCarGuy, thanks for staying up all night to help my cause. The only small mistake is it’s an LA car so it’s N0E (not N0B). I’m pretty sure you wanna make it perfect. Do you think this is the final deduction? I think we’re almost there. Once it’s agreed-upon, now where would I get them...
Hello MoparCarGuy. This is latest fender tag with updates you stated. I also added N85 code since the wiring I determined matches the 1970 service manual for Rallye cluster (unless A62 covers Tach already?). The second tag would now have V6X pushed over to it along with Y14 26 END. See if this...
RTA, The picture you sent showing under dash wiring shows speaker wires (black and green) exiting the LH side of the picture together. I think they plug directly into the center speaker with no intermediate harness.
Thanks for the breakdowns. The AM radio I have (correct for 70 e-body) does not have wires combined into one speaker plug and has separate positive and negative leads (see two leads on left side of picture) that are pretty long and look like the ones shown in the routing diagram you sent that...
I never saw anything to do with a fader knob or any wiring to a back speaker. I have the A04 code which lists a radio (not specific). Seems R11 fits my situation. Can it simply be wired to one dash speaker? See picture and this is plug I have to plug in for radio power. Nothing else but that...
MoparCarGuy, again, thanks for the large education. Its all very interesting and shows just how screwed up my tag was. Its very apparent someone after the accident and loss of original tag just had one reproduced as best as they could based in the actual options but still made a lot of mistakes...
The car when I bought it did have the hockey stick stripes that looked all original. I used them to measure the new ones and the paint on the rear quarters was still single layer when we started sanding into them. The rear quarters had absolutely not a spec of rust and one of the best original...
So what you are saying is that B51 means it’s automatically power brakes? I kind of remembering seeing a disc brake car that did not have the booster. I will see if I can find it. Most likely you are correct. I am just trying to make the tag correctly reflect what it is was original like I have...
Thanks everyone. Based on all this info, I think best conclusion of what my (reproduction) tag should look like is the picture I produced from the decoder on E-bodies.org. The build date is within a day or two. The Y05 is most common but possibly could have been a Y14. Just went with most...
Thanks a lot for your time MoparCarGuy. That really helps me know closely the build date. I also am certain tag should have N95 code as it does have ECS hard line from tank to carb. RTA, as far as the K frame all I found was stamp on forward facing section. See pictures. I think it says C090...
Also the last tag MoparCarGuy sent is very close to my car eng/trans and sequence number (built in LA (BS23N0E132393) The build date is 213 on that tag (I think Feb 13, 1970). My build date shows C02 (Dec 2, 1969) and way too early compared to my door sticker being Feb 1970. Since my sequence...
Cuda Hunter. Yes that is my tag. The one deemed reproduction. I started this thread to try to help figure out the mistakes on that and what it should correctly reflect as best as possible. So far my radio I conclude should be R11 (it has single speaker dash and wiring reflects simple single...
Thanks Lunchbox. That helps. Still shows the typical Y05 code. Not sure if assy plant would matter. I also see it has the R22 AM a-track radio. Do you have a 3 speaker dash? Does R22 always come with a 3 speaker dash? Just another question I had.
Hi everyone. I want to resurrect this thread. I have looked at every photo I can find on the Internet of fender tags and found none that have the D21 and H51 option codes together. 4speed car with A/C. I’m trying to find any car built in 1970 or even 71 that has these two options. Ideally it...
Thanks. I do not think engine would matter for my purposes. I was trying to see if there was a specific “Y” code associated with this combo. From what I am experiencing is it’s very rare to get both options. I do not think cars were delivered to dealerships with this combo and think someone...
