Retrosound 4x10” Dash speaker / Dash Pad Modification

So, I called the company that redid the dash pad, and they said there would be no issue trimming back the foam and vinyl under the speaker grill so the speaker sits lower. I’ll do the same thing that you did with your speaker wires to insulate the connections from the dash. Thanks for the good...

Retrosound 4x10” Dash speaker / Dash Pad Modification

Interesting. What other speakers do you have in your system? How does that speaker setup sound?

Retrosound 4x10” Dash speaker / Dash Pad Modification

Has anyone had any success installing this 4x10” Retrosound speaker in the dash? I just had my dash pad redone, and the speaker sits too high, making the speaker grill pop out of the dash by about 1/4”. I can cut some of the tabs of this speaker to help it sit lower, but it seems I will need to...

    Missing Clip for AC Duct

Nice!!!! Thank you, this is super helpful. This bracket is miraculously still attached to my dash frame, for years I thought it was something someone bolted on after market. Glad I didn’t toss it.

    Missing Clip for AC Duct

Hi All, can anyone tell me what clip or piece goes in the hole of this duct piece? I didn’t see it in the shop manual. 1971 Challenger with factory AC. This has never been put together in my car… I cleaned the duct up this weekend and found remnants of a clip. I’d like to get one before I...

So, I pulled the dimmer switch apart again to look at it with fresh eyes. When I first put it together i tried to do it with the minimal amount of dielectric grease. I probably didn’t apply enough. I put more under these two tangs that move on the mint green ceramic wheel. I also spread it...

That makes sense. I’ll leave it as is. Thanks for easing my mind and saving me 100 bucks on a switch!

Thanks. I might make a post in the electrical section regarding this. I can’t stand not being able to fix something, and it’s eating away at me. I may try to file down one of the pieces to make a smoother transition. Don’t want to do that yet if I’m overlooking something though.

As for the dimmer switch, I used contact cleaner and some 1000 grit sandpaper to clean up connections. Ohmed it out and it seems to work as it should with higher resistance at one end and none at the other. One issue… it’s difficult to get the dimmer switch into the full counter clockwise...

Plugged away a bit more this weekend and cleaned up the variable speed wiper switch. I was getting intermittent continuity when I did the test procedure, especially in the off position. So I figured the insides needed cleaning and greasing. Did the same with the headlight switch and both work...

I took a break from electrical stuff this weekend, as my dash pad arrived and I wanted to bolt everything together to feel like I’m making progress. I needed to fix the AC vents, as the vanes were all broken, and one linkage piece that allows them all to move together was missing. I made a new...

Absolutely man! I intend to start thinking about engine options soon. If you ever make it over to pavilions on Saturdays let me know. I live close and head over there often… I plan on having the car there before summer.

Excellent, this will do nicely. It also solves my mystery of which wire is blue off the harness. Mine are so faded I couldn’t tell green from blue. Thanks!

What colors are the wires coming out of the windshield wiper motor? I’m doing a quick refresh and trying to avoid a total rebuild as the motor ran when parked (little wiper motor joke there for ya😜). I was going to re-insulate the existing wires and move on without obsessing. I see the two...

    Glove box light

I’ve had this glove box light from the previous owner. Is this correct for a Challenger? Seems to be a tight fit in the hole and the light is short of the knock out for the glove compartment. Unrelated: Looks like Fran put my glove box together!
