Steering - new gear box vs rack & pinion

I don't suppose you have the article?

Steering - new gear box vs rack & pinion

Nice, thanks for sharing. I clicked the link but there's no pic on their site. Did you use their kit and if so were you happy? Seems like it could be $100 well spent.

Steering - new gear box vs rack & pinion

So my car is a convertible and I'm putting a 392 hemi w/8 speed transmission in it, so I will be doing things like torque boxes and subframe connectors to me the car as solid as possible. After reading and doing some research, my plan is also to add the support bearing assembly to the steering...

Steering - new gear box vs rack & pinion

Well I'm definitely in the "building" phase to I could add a support bearing, reinforce the steering box and/or do whatever would make for better driving/handling when the car is completed. Do you have any pics or advice on how to reinforce the steering box? Of point me in a direction? Any...

392 Hemi with a shaker hood?

YEEEESSSSSS!!!! Awesome thank you so much! Super helpful and no question I can do something like that. 100% agreed it needs to be mounted to the engine as if it was sitting on top of a 440 or 426 instead of a 392.

392 Hemi with a shaker hood?

Well the car looks great and there's lots of pics - thanks for sharing that. But I didn't see how he mounted it on top of the 392. However, seeing what he has done on his car in the pics makes me realize that I can fit the shaker bubble on top of the 392 engine (there's enough clearance) and...

392 Hemi with a shaker hood?

Question for guys who have late-model engines with shaker hoods: how do you accomplish it? Do you mount the shaker bubble on top of the engine, or mount it to the hood? Either way, seems like it would be nonfunctional for it's originally-intended-purpose (right)? Any help is appreciated -...

Plan for my 70 Challenger Convertible

Well in the time since I first posted this I decided to go with a (late model) 392 hemi & 8spd trans. It's from a 2020 scat pack challenger and (for me) will be the right balance of HP/torque and drivability. Regarding FiTech, it never ceases to amaze me how raising that name brings out the...

    Challenger Shaker hood question

Thanks to all for the input, clearly it's not an original shaker hood which is pretty much what I expected (and fine with me). My plan is to finish it properly and use it on my challenger convertible. Which leads me to another question that will be a topic for a different thread.

    Challenger Shaker hood question

I realize this is a slightly older thread, am hoping you can help me. How can I tell if the hood in the pic below is an original shaker hood, or a cobbled-up regular challenger hood? Any help is appreciated.

    Slow voltage drain. Any suggestions?

Instead of a kill switch could you do a battery tender? In my "other" muscle car I have a clock as well as a radio and a gps tracker I want to keep fully charged in case the car is ever stolen...and it can go weeks without being started so I use a battery tender to make sure my battery never...

Steering - new gear box vs rack & pinion

I found plenty of rebuild kits for the front end online but nothing for the sector support shaft and bearing. I saw options for other (newer) vehicles so I understand whit it does and why it's a good thing to have. I'll keep looking, if anyone is able to point me to a company that makes it for...

Steering - new gear box vs rack & pinion

Thanks for all the advice, I'm going to do as suggested and go with the Borgeson box. I was already planning to fully rebuild the front suspension and NOT use rubber bushings, a mistake a made when I did the suspension in my 55 chevy a while back. Two questions: 1. are there any kits out...

Steering - new gear box vs rack & pinion

Been reading through various threads on steering options here, and it seems like some people think that a good, brand new steering gear box is as good as rack & pinion in these cars. I really want my 70 Challenger to drive and handle well, and I'm willing to put in the time and money to go...

    Touchscreen Addition

Love the camera in the spoiler. I'm going to do something similar with a camera, but rather than a touchscreen I will use a rearview mirror with integral camera. I used one on my last build and I like it.

Plan for my 70 Challenger Convertible

Right now my thumbnail pic shows the state of the '70 convertible I bought, but my plan is to bring it back to life in a classic style with black paint and chrome etc like the pic below. My car has a shaker hood, which is super cool but otherwise I love the classic lines and style of how these...

New here, but not new to mopars

Super excited to have recently purchased a 1970 Challenger Convertible that's in solid condition for an amazing price. The car is a bit of a basket case but came with tons of parts with which to put it together and get it on the road, including a shaker hood and all associated shaker parts...
