Opened a 70-72 challenger front unit at a shop. new out of the box. test fitted factory bumperettes, the mount shapes are way off. They will not bolt up.
Although the lenses look the same, they are different size. Tail is physically larger and will not seat to bezel housing. Copilot chose not to, but on mine, I set aside reverse circuit and tapped tail and brake circuits, added sockets and 1157 bulbs. Its the Rebel way.
One problem is, if you have stock front 70-72 bumperettes they do not fit well together, the mounting shape is a little different. With the aftermarket stampings and the 73 and 74 factory versions, I mean.

No, no inspections in Michigan. Reverse lamps......3rd brake lamps...all Government mandated nannyisms. IMO I think they"re ugly as hell. What they were forced to do the bumpers 73 on really nauseates me. Ya didnt see this crap on George Barris rides.
