Has anyone modified the reverse light lenses on a 72-74?

I really don't care for the reverse light lens on my 73, my plan is to modify the two extra brake/park light lenses i have to fit. I know they are different sizes, anyone do this mod before?

I don't think anyone has. As of yet. I never thought any reverse light was adequate. I was more so a warning light for others. Same for the E body mirrors. This day and age there are the back up cameras. I always trust the mirrors. On one job ( Airports,flight 93 and others) or two there was no right of way to turn around. For months half the day was backing up one of thesis just mirrors. They go like a mountain goat-bear or Mountain Cat. One drop of rain and their worthless on a smooth dirt road!

A long time ago I bought halogen 1156 bulbs. I seen how hot they got and never put them in. I think they were 25 watts or more,

The super white (5000K) LED's are better than the OE bulbs. None are great for any kind of illumination though.

I purchased a converted set from a member over on ebodies. org some time ago.
They were super bright and worked great! Not much destruction of the outside housing. You might be able to find the conversion he did over there if you search it.

Would like to see how that worked out. Brightness of light cast. 70 challenger has a larger reverse light lens surface area.

Copilot... isn't it amazing every post always gets sideways from what the Poster askes? Well, yes I have a 73 that i finally was successful in fitting additional tail/brake lens to the inner bezel. Well.... half a lens,lol. See ifn yall can visual this. Took a reverse lens and a tail lens, bandsawed them in half, lengthwise, mated and plastic glued together. Even tho they're slightly different shapes they can mate to seal watertight which I did in and out. repaint the surround black band and the reverse half screws back into its place. the outer lens half barely fits the recess but looks natural. Rewire, stow the reverse circuit, tap into tail and brakelamp circuits, had to replace hazard flasher with HD unit. Its baddazz.

My posts aren't specific to 2-4 but they show conversions to the rear tail lights. Those include the reverse lights.
If someone is going to customize their system then they will be figuring things out one way or the other.
Shall I not post information about what he asked?
I also provided links to the conversions. And said if you search long enough you will find the 2-4 conversion. But I am not going to spend hours looking for his specific conversion. I provided the beginning of the information trail.

I’d be very interested in seeing that.

I have been itching to make some significant changes to the rear lights in my ‘74 (convert from four to a six light, symmetrical layout ), but the asymmetrical shape of the lenses combined with the angles of the housings and curve of the panels combined with the steel filler panel between the lights, may prevent me from pursuing this effort any time soon.

Even if I don’t get to this, improving the visibility and capability of my lighting is going to happen.
