Can you tell me what those two orange spots are on the outside of the carb? It looks like someone may have drilled a hole in the carb and then plugged them with orange silicone sealer.

Sounds like a service replacement bare block sold from the parts Dept. A short or long block would be stamped F440 and HP. No vin number on the pan rail pad if ir was a warranty engine.

Cuda and challenger hoods are completely different and will not interchange.

I’ve seen lots of 340 carbs and 043 was the earliest I’ve seen until I found this 0360. Of coarse it could be a 036 of 1980. I’ll shoot you a pm.
