    Muffler suggestions

On my 70 Challenger, I added the Hooker Max Flows (2.5") under the rear seat and then used the Classic Chambered Exhaust #25-RES-SPE1 beside the tank with 2.5" RT tips. The idle and cruise sound is mean and the WOT is loud! I can cruise up to 70mph with no drone as a bonus.

Best Motor Mounts for Stroker 340

I just pulled my 340 mounts and ordered a set of the Mighty Mounts tonight. I also will reuse a torque rod on the drivers side.

Are hughes engines a good company?

I have bought a few sets of valve springs, retainer sets, lock sets, and a Timing chain set from Hughes and the parts were good. I recently bought a SFT cam/EDM lifters/springs from them and the parts are running good. I did get a bad cam from them and they replaced it quickly with no issues...

    Hughes Engines Solid Cam

Two 45 minute drives and no issues. Idle in D with brake gives me 10 to 11" vacuum. Off idle is immediate and smooth. Very docile cam for idle, and cruise up to 55mph. I show idle to 55mph at 13.4-13.6 A/F and very steady. I have not nailed it yet since I am tweaking the cruising A/F numbers...

    Hughes Engines Solid Cam

One more update: I decided to lower my Neutral idle rpms to 1000, then I turned up the initial timing to 24 degrees which gave me 11-12"hg. I have an idle solenoid hooked up so that I can adjust my R/D/2/1 rpms seperately than my P/N rpms. I now have my D rpms set at 1150 with a solid 12"hg...

    Hughes Engines Solid Cam

I have actually ran 18 degrees cranking and 30 once it lit for an idle. I have tried anywhere from 18-24 for initial and then the 30, but the 30 was with a manifold source for vacuum and the engine loved it. I am now back to running a non VA distributor only because the previous distributor...

    Hughes Engines Solid Cam

Steve, I played with the initial timing and the idle rpms tonight and found the following vacuum results: 1000rpms @ 18 initial = 10"hg with a rough idle 1200rpms @ 22 initial = 12.5-13"hg with a fairly smooth idle I am surprised by the 12+ vacuum reading with this 108 cl cam.

    Hughes Engines Solid Cam

Update on the Hughes solid 3438 in a stock stroke 340: A few weeks ago I completed the break in with no issues using the Hughes instructions. It cranked for one second then fired right up to 2,000rpms. 32 minutes of moving the idle from 2,000-2500rpms then shut it down. Then I pulled off the...

    Hughes Engines Solid Cam

I just installed the STL3438AS (234/[email protected]”, .364”/.375” lobe lifts w/1.65’s =.590”/.603” after lash) solid in my stock stroke 340 (ported Sidewinder heads) this past Winter. I should be firing it up for the first time in the next week or so.

2.5" Round Ultra FLows: Mounted Beside Gas Tank

I have changed direction on mufflers and I am now curious if anyone is using the Hooker Max Flows with the TTi exhaust. If so, how was the installation and the sound? Has anyone modified the TTi tail pipes for resonators? It appears that the Challenger tail pipes have the mounting bracket in...

    What Temperature Thermostat

I run a 195 in my 340. As long as the cooling system and the tune is in good shape, the 195 should not be a problem.

    ignition upgrade

I too have had issues with the FBO ignition systems. The first one was the original release for the 6v system. That system ran good. I then traded that in for his 12v system and I could not keep the system running. He then let me trade that system in for the upgraded system but that was on back...

2.5" Round Ultra FLows: Mounted Beside Gas Tank

Thank you for posting that video. That exhaust sounds great! I want to confirm that the mufflers in the video are the Round Ultra Flows? What size exhaust? Is there an H or X pipe on that car? Thank you again.

2.5" Round Ultra FLows: Mounted Beside Gas Tank

http://www.dynomax.com/ultra-flo-welded-round-centered-centered-596.html Has anyone mounted these 6" diameter x 16" ROUND Ultra Flows beside their gas tank with no other muffler upstream? If so, how was the sound? I currently have a 70 Challenger 340 with the TTI headers and I will be buying...
