Here is part of the description from the ad on E-bay for this car: (It was a factory plum crazy purple black interior 340 727 on colunm bench seat.. Very few made with this combo..... have all fender tags and title... )

Very few indeed i`m gonna go out on a limb here and say this is not an AAR.

What makes you think that, Sheetmetaldan? Column auto? I've seen a few like this. Falls into the catagory of rare not always being a good thing. I think this car was on FEBO not too long ago.

Well I don`t claim to be an expert by any stretch and I don`t have any hard evidence to prove it one way or the other. I would never think an AAR would come with a bench seat and shift on the column just doesn`t make sense to me, but i`ve been wrong before. This car does seem familiar to me as well maybe I did see it listed here before but I can`t recall for sure. If indeed it is a true AAR then I guess it would be rare indeed!

I just looked at the photos again and I see no antenae hole in the rear quearter but that can be explained by a new a replacement quarter put on.

I`m gonna go out on a limb again and say the galaxie 500 trim in the trunk is not original to the car! :laughing7:

Ooops! I guess I should have done a little research before I tossed out my opinion. A column shift/bench seat combo is possible.

I did a quick search and found this info on a different forum. I`m sure some of you will recognize the poster of this info.

I would be surprised if anyone actually knew how many column shift cars were built with any seat or engine combinaton, but I can tell you how many I have heard of so far for the AARs and T/As.

AARs with column shift - 68 currently known.

AARs with column shift / bench seat - 37 currently known.

T/As with column shift - 22 currently known.

T/As with column shift and bench seat - 6 known.

So for both cars, the column shift and bucket seat combination is fairly common, at least so far. All numbers change as more cars are registered and as more information comes in, so please keep that in mind. Currently, I know of 1015 T/As and 820 AARs.

I know of one column shift JS23U0B car as well, but that is a little out of my specialty.

It was listed here a few months ago for $15k it has been on NJ craigslist since then. I'm sure it's real and it looks like a solid car but the missing drive train & all the other parts are killer in an AAR/TA because they are so rare. If it sold for anywhere near $15k by the time you find a real TA engine and decent trans, 6 pack, manifolds....and all the missing parts for it then you'll spend another $10k just for cores and then you need to restore the drivetrain and the car. If you're really lucky and do all the work yourself you'll have at least $50k into a non matching numbers, column shift automatic AAR..... The math just doesn't work these days for most people. The person that needs to buy this car is someone that has a rebuilt TA motor on a stand in their garage collecting dust and can do most of the work themselves.

I won't be suprised if it goes over 10 or 11K in the bidding but I say no way on the 15K. Who knows though, I could be wrong!

Sorry didn't know it was yours thought it was something you saw and just posted. Didn't know you could post links to your own auction here. I hope you get close to what you want for it. I was just posting the facts so somebody here that didn't know any better didn't make a big mistake like I did on my first Cuda many moons ago.

I didn`t realize it was his either. I see no problem with an active member posting an e-bay link to there own vehicle as long as we don`t start becoming a dumping ground for e-bay links.

I wonder if this car is one of the known 37 column/bench seat combos if so it could only help the seller and potential buyers.
