Can someone please give me a hand and decode this data plate, I am no good at it and I know there are pro's out there. I am in the process of putting a 451 with a 3500 convertor and re-built 727.

Thanks in advance

A closer pic would be helpful but off the top of my head its a '70 318 car that's burnt orange inside and out (I like) with the light package, drip rail trim, I think I see console so buckets as well. The 26" radiator likely denotes ac and power brakes, and hood mounted turn signals. Rallye wheels, built for US specs on June 17 of '70. Did you buy this car recently from a forum member?

Det - No, I bought it from a local person here in Northern Nevada. and pretty sure he has had it for a little bit, but not sure on the history. Car looks like all you said, I was looking of the gearing, if it had a Rallye gauge set and something about swivel seats. Some has started changing the interior to black, you can tell it was orange at one time.

Thanks - Charles

There are some other codes on the tag that I can't make out but these were not available with swivel seats. Does it have a Rallye cluster in it now?

Yes, has the Rallye cluster but was told it had swivel seats, which where removed. Do you know any of the history? sounds like there was an ember in there.

No swivel seats ever in an E-body, someone may have attempted to install them at one point but they didn't come from the factory that way. What you could get is a 6-way adjustable left seat and I think you could get it in power or manual and that is coded as C62. Do you have a build sheet for this car?

Dude, this is a rather unusual car and I really like it. I hope you take it back to factory appearance because it was most certainly stunning when it rolled off the lot in '70. To bad it was only a 318/904 originally but it had several other things going for it besides the burnt orange paint and interior such as a black gator grain vinyl top, sweet! The burnt orange interior was only offered for that one year. Here's the way the rest of it decoded that I hadn't already detailed in past posts.
N85-evaporative emissions control(may have been a California car), R22-AM/8 track, C62-6way drivers seat(rare), G33-LH remote chrome racing mirror, H51-a.c. W/ft heater, N85- tach, V1G-black gator grain vinyl top, A62-Rallye inst cluster, E44-318, D31-904 auto trans.
My A66 Challenger is burnt orange in and out w/black top and rump stripe but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep or sell at this point.

Det - Thanks, my intent is to not take it to far off. Someone started changing the interior from the orange to black, and have taken the 6 way seats and 8 track. They removed the A/C and installed a 360 (which runs on about 5 1/2 cylinders). All the gauges work except the tac, its not hooked up so not sure. I have an R/R rear valance and hood, so those will go on. and I am putting in the 451 with a 727 and 3500 convertor. I have a 71 Dart for sale and the market is slow, was going to use the cash to float the Challenger build. However, if things keep going, may need to sell this, so want to get it to a point where its feasible.

Thanks - CP
