1971 challenger Linkage hook up

Okay. I got my new shifter rod in today and I'm not sure which way the bend goes and if it goes closer to the front or to the back. How does it go on?

OK, I'm confused. Where is this actually going from and to? I ask because every rod linkage I've seen had a "pin" on at least one end. Yours has two holes.
