1972 340 90° OIL FILTER ADAPTER

Please let me know if someone can verify if the original oil filter adapter plate should be installed with the 90° right angle adapter?

I am replacing the headers on a car I bought a couple years ago and took the 90° right angle adapter off and found the original adapter underneath. The bolt went trough both adapters and there was a gasket on both adapters along with the cork gasket and copper gasket on the bolt. I have had the car running over the years and even drove it around the yard. Oil pressure was fine however I can't find any documents that lead me to believe this was correct.

No oil filter plate with the adapter - just a circular ring gasket between the block and adapter.

As noted, the plate, which is for a direct mounting of a filter, and second gasket, should not be installed under the 90 degree adaptor. The following image from the 1972 Chrysler parts catalog shows the correct mounting layout:
