Were the factory Black R/T side stripes Gloss Black or Matt Black on a 70 Challenger?

How do you keep the matt black stripes from getting wax or ceramic wax? My Challenger has the matt black stripes and I need to wax it before winter put-away. Seems no matter how careful, I always get some on the stripes and have a heck of a time getting it off.....
