Look for advise on how to install the torsion bars and set the ride height. Currently my car does not have a motor, transmission, front fenders or hood on it which I know will end up changing the way the front end sits eventually but wanted a good way to install them for the time being because the torsion bars are out of the car right now and the bottom of the K-member is about three inches off of the ground. Any suggestions are welcome!

You need more ground clearance. Jack it up above the normal ride height and let the lower control arm hang down as far as it will go. Make sure the adjuster bolt is backed way out too. Clean and grease the socket in the lower control arm and rear cross-member. Make sure the bars are in the correct side ( http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/susp/7.html) and slide them in back to front; don't forget the seals. You may have to pull down on the lower control arm.. once started you can carefully seat them with a hammer and drift. Install the retaining clips and screw in the LCA adjusters until you have good tension, or the bottom of the bolt head is just below the plane of the LCA. The ride height will be adjustable after the motor is in, so no worries. You should not need any special tools.

Of course, now is the time to replace the LCA & UCA bushings, and upgrade to LCA stiffening plates and better torsion bars, if you have not already done so.

Claudia, since the T-bars are already out have you thought about pulling the K-frame. You can clean it up, put the engine, trans, steering box, and starter all together and install it as one unit from the bottom. Easy! it would be a shame to scratch up your new paint, and it is so nice to work on the trans/starter/steering without leaning over, or lying under the car.
