72 vapor return line

On my 72 Cuda, the vapor line ends on the frame rail just behind the oil filter. Seems strange to have the hose from the charcoal canister run all the way down there. It has not been cut. Anybody know?

There is a short piece of hose and then another line that goes along the frame and up the inner fender. The connection from that line to the charcoal canister is strange. If I remember correctly, the hose coming off of the charcoal canister is 5/16". The vapor line is 1/4" In order to get the 5/16 hose to attach to the 1/4 line, a much larger flare was made on the end of the line. The flare on the repop line I have from Fine Lines isn't as big as the factory flare. I cleaned up and reused the original line for this reason.
