73 barracuda trunck lock issues...

Hi , I bought a trunk lock assembly for a 73-74 barracuda , which is what I have..but....... Is there a difference between the 70-72 and 72-74....

In 1973, Chrysler changed the trunk lock in all models to a more secure assembly that is larger and fastens with a threaded nut rather than the slide on clip of earlier models. The 1973 and later lock does not fit in the older models. The key style and internal tumbler style did not change.

It has the small hole for the smaller assembly.. I'm hoping I can do a return and get the small one.Instead.Thanks. i have been doing some research and can only come up with the one with the big one...

Keep in mind that the Barracuda trunk lock is offset and uses a different tail piece that operates linkage over to the latch, not a straight shaft that slides directly into the latch like most other models. It's lock is unique to that style of tail shaft, so, most of the aftermarket generic trunk locks won't work. Verify it will accept the Barracuda lever type tail piece before ordering.
