I am removing my drivetrain from my T/A for freshening. I have a 360 and an A-body A-833 that I would like to use to keep it on the road. Can I use the A-Body trans in an E-Body or are the splines/tailshaft lengths different. Thanks, Dave

The T/A should have the same number of splines (23) as an A body A833. Only the 440 and 6 Pack/Hemi got the bigger 18 spline. But the extension housing on the gearbox is shorter and the shifter mounts are up closer to the firewall so it will not bolt straight in. Unless you have what i have (see pic) which is an adapter made of 6.3mm steel and locates the shifter into the correct position for E body. However you would still need a longer tail shaft (drive shaft) to fit.
