Just wanted to help out anybody else who maybe has issues with a relatively new clutch - and driving you up the wall!!!
In August 2024 I installed a freshly built 408 Stroker and new Mcleod 75209 Clutch and Flywheel in my 1974 Challenger. Just before putting the car away last fall the clutch started chattering (after only a couple of thousand miles or so) when moving away from being stopped. This was driving me nuts because I couldn't find the cause. Some buddies told me I had a bad T/O bearing. McLeod told me I hadn't properly broken in the clutch. I've been driving a standard transmission for fifty years!! Not new to a four speed.
Finally I got under the car a few weeks ago and looked closely and noticed the clutch fork boot was torn. (See attached). When I removed the torn boot and looked even closer I noticed the clutch fork insulator was shot. Huge play in the fork. I replaced insulator and of course the boot. Now the issue is completely resolved. This was my bad as I should have changed parts like this when I replaced the clutch.
Hopefully this helps...
