Classified Section Needs a Cleanup

I didn't see a site question/suggestion section, so I'm here in "General".

Is there a chance the mods can do a general cleanup of the classified section? When I'm actively looking for a car, I keep seeing the same ancient ads, a lot of times from a poster with the ad being his only post on the forum, never to return again to answer questions or mark the ad "SOLD".

Newbies have a tendency to dig up ads that are several years old which pops them back up to the top.

Also, can the "SOLD" cars be deleted after 30 days or so?

I've been on a few site with a 60 or 90 day ad limit, then if there's no activity, ads get deleted.

This is very frustrating and is not specific to this site.

Thanks

While I can understand your frustration we won't be deleting ads.

For a general explanation check out post five in this thread:

Remember, too, there are only three mods and one administrator. We're all volunteers on the site. To go back through years of classified ads and determine which are relevant and which aren't would be a time consuming job, especially with just a four man crew.

Truthfully, I like it when the newbies dredge up an old ad. It helps me do my job in that I don't have to go back years and bring the ads up to date on the new rules. It's placed in front of me on a silver platter.

That being said, we're all adults here and should be able to make the determination as to whether or not the ad is worthy responding. An ad with a date of years should more than likely be ignored, especially if the OP has just a handful of posts and only within the ad itself. The combination shows the odds of actually purchasing the car are slim to none.

I get the volunteer crew thing and the dollars (pennies?) per hit, but just because we're all adults sure doesn't mean we all act like it.

Thanks for the consideration and the time you put in here.
